I’m a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Houston, Texas with extensive experience in mental health treatment across diverse populations, especially ethnicity, gender, age, religious, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status. My journey in the mental health field began during my undergraduate studies, where I first became involved in victim advocacy. This experience deepened my understanding of social dynamics, (in)justice and human behavior, leading to dual bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Women’s Studies. While pursuing my graduate degree, I worked at the National Domestic Violence Hotline, further honing my skills in crisis intervention and critical thinking/problem-solving . After earning a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin, I completed a post-graduate fellowship focused on psychiatric rehabilitation of veterans with severe mental illness. I further advanced my clinical skills when joining The Menninger Clinic staff, where I spent five years specializing in the treatment of business professionals facing mental health crises, young adults navigating the transition into adulthood, and clients experiencing severe mental health challenges, including suicidal ideation. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, after recognizing the urgent need for increased access to mental health care I established my private practice, Therapy by Ivy, PLLC. Since then I have offered individual telehealth sessions to adult clients seeking to improve their mental health and enhance their lives. In 2023, I expanded my practice to include in-person sessions while continuing to provide telehealth sessions. Based in the Houston Heights area, I am proud to offer flexible session options, accept most major insurance plans, and self-pay sliding fee for the uninsured or underinsured.

Life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about the road ahead. Whether you are walking through grief and loss, anxiety, relationship struggles, life transitions, or simply longing for a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationship with God, you don't have to walk that journey alone. Jesus Christ is the foundation of both my life and my counseling. I believe He is the source of hope, healing, truth, and lasting transformation. It is my privilege to humbly come alongside others, creating a safe and compassionate place to explore life's challenges while seeking the wisdom, freedom, and healing that God desires for each person. For those seeking Christian counseling, I thoughtfully integrate evidence-based counseling practices with biblical truth and the work of the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that every client leaves knowing they have been seen, heard, and loved, with renewed hope and confidence as God continues the work that only He can accomplish.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Texas and a Licensed Addiction Counselor in Colorado I have made the commitment to help others as they face adversity so as to develop a loving and compassionate relationship with themselves. I bring a wealth of experience and specialized training in addictions and mental health to my practice and there is one common theme I have noticed throughout my career, which is our self-talk. We are our own worst enemies, and this wreaks havoc on our self-esteem.

I am a warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth therapist who believes therapy works best when clients feel genuinely safe, heard, and understood. I strive to create a space where people can show up as they are without feeling judged, rushed, or expected to have everything figured out. My approach is rooted in connection and collaboration. While I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic and nervous-system-informed techniques, and trauma-informed care into my work, I primarily work from a person-centered perspective, meaning I tailor therapy to each individual rather than taking a rigid or one-size-fits-all approach. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who may be navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, trauma, stress, or self-esteem struggles. Many of my clients are thoughtful, sensitive, high-functioning people who are used to carrying a lot internally and are looking for both practical support and a deeper understanding of themselves. I believe healing often begins with having a space where you no longer feel like you have to hold everything together alone. My goal is to help clients feel supported while building insight, confidence, emotional resilience, and meaningful change in their lives.

Hi, I’m Fatima. I know that reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, vulnerable, and sometimes even scary, so I strive to create a space where you can truly feel safe, heard, and accepted without judgment. My passion is helping people reconnect with themselves, heal emotionally, and build healthier relationships with both themselves and others. I especially enjoy helping people who feel emotionally exhausted, misunderstood, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they no longer want to carry. I integrate approaches like CBT, EFT, attachment-focused work, and emotional regulation tools, while always tailoring therapy to the unique needs of the person sitting in front of me. As someone who deeply values authenticity, emotional safety, and meaningful connection, I want clients to feel comfortable showing up as their real selves in session. Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker serving individuals in ILLINOIS, TEXAS, and SOUTH CAROLINA. For several years, I have been in private practice, assisting both children and adults facing difficulties related to depression and anxiety, as well as supporting individuals who are experiencing losses. I have also worked as a hospice social worker, where I provided support and education to families navigating the end-of-life process, helping them prepare to say goodbye to their loved ones. My background also includes working with families who have experienced trauma related to abuse, neglect, family dysfunction/conflict, and legal challenges. I have experience and knowledge of the education system, having worked in the public school system. I understand assessments and evaluations for students struggling academically, developed Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and offered social-emotional education and individual support for students dealing with issues such as peer relationships, bullying, anger, anxiety, and other challenges that can affect their learning and growth. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a key element of my therapeutic approach. This evidence-based method equips clients with tailored tools and strategies. Together, we will identify triggers and explore ways to alleviate the physical and emotional symptoms you may be experiencing. Having been raised in a military family and lived in various states, I have gained unique insights into community, culture, and the importance of building new relationships. I am eager to learn and develop a trusting relationship with you as we work together to enhance your well-being and foster self-compassion on your journey.

Hello, I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that). At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy. As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran. Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Hello, I am Shana Toney, a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over my lifetime I have always worked in human services. It was gratifying to work with clients in their time of need and support them through the process. Many of the clients would say they felt comfortable talking to me and I listened to their needs. Those years of serving the community led me to become a therapist. Once I became a therapist 8 years ago, I found my passion. I love having the opportunity and freedom to work with clients, helping them figure things out, learn to create change in their lives and coping with situations they have no control over. Change is not easy but possible. My role as a therapist is to walk with clients to help create their change and happiness they desire.

I support adults who are looking to build on their strengths, develop new resources, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. My approach is collaborative, goal-oriented, and person-centered, which means we work together to identify what matters most to you and create a plan that aligns with your goals and values. Life can bring challenges that feel overwhelming, especially when emotions become difficult to manage or relationships feel strained. In therapy, I provide a supportive space where you can better understand your experiences, strengthen your sense of self, and develop healthier ways of coping and connecting with others. I believe that each client is the expert on their own life, and my role is to help guide, support, and empower you throughout the process. I am continually learning and expanding my clinical skills so I can bring effective, evidence-based approaches into our work together. My therapeutic style incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and EMDR to help clients build practical skills, gain insight, and move toward positive change. Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy teaching dance, working out, and baking treats to share with friends and family. These activities help me stay connected, balanced, and energized, and I bring that same enthusiasm and commitment into my work with clients.

I believe that compassion and self-love are powerful tools that allow us to overcome life’s challenges and mental health struggles. By fostering a nonjudgmental and understanding environment, we can acknowledge that perfection is not the goal—growth is. Each person is unique, processing experiences in their own way and at their own pace. Through patience, collaboration, and consistency, we can achieve meaningful goals and build resilience together. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my purpose is to help others just as I was once helped. My personal journey—marked by life experiences, challenges, and both right and wrong choices—has guided me toward the most rewarding profession: supporting others in their healing. It would be an honor to walk alongside you on your healing journey and to help you discover your strength, resilience, and potential for growth.

Treat others the way you want to be treated is the motto I live by. I want to be treated kindly, I want to be heard and I want to feel I matter. This is how I will treat you, without strings or hesitation. I have a story just as you do. I have been lucky to choose a career that has enabled me to know when I need to talk to someone, enabled me to learn and use coping skills that work and has also enabled me to see the beauty through the broken pieces. Growing up I was a nosey child, I always wanted to know the "why", I still do! This personality trait led me on a path where I have been able to meet people from all walks of life, people who seemingly burned every bridge walked over, people with no hope as well as people who just were going through a rough patch. All these individuals have helped me become the person and the therapist I am today. I am truly excited to hear people’s story, restore faith and be the constant in people’s lives. Give me a chance to hear your story, you are not alone!
