If intrusive thoughts loop on repeat, if worry steals your sleep, if panic hits out of nowhere, or if a fear is shrinking your world — you don't have to white-knuckle this alone anymore.
Kimberly is a licensed naturopathic physician (AZ) , a chemical dependency counselor, a marriage and family therapist, and a licensed professional counselor. Kimberly has experience working with individuals and families of all ages and diverse backgrounds affected by serious mental illness, anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, and addiction in hospital-based mental health care as well as private practice, producing positive outcomes with those impacted by childhood trauma, addiction, chronic illnesses, insomnia, and perinatal anxiety and depression.
First session
In our first appointment, I really want to get to know you. We will also dive into your goals for us working together and talk about what is important to you. If you need a different appointment time than what is available, please send me a message https://www.kimberlywilsonnmd.com/appointments
Strengths
I specialize in OCD, OCD-related conditions (e.g., dermatillomania, trichotillomania, hoarding, emetophobia, tics), anxiety, panic, phobias, and health anxiety — the conditions where specialized, exposure-based therapy makes the difference between years of managing symptoms and actually getting your life back. If your anxiety lives in your body — every heartbeat, every ache, every test result — you won't have to explain the medical side to me. I already speak it. That matters most in health anxiety, and it changes the work everywhere else, too. My approach is structured and evidence-based, built around Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT), the gold standard for OCD/OCD-RS, with support from mindfulness, ACT, and I-CBT strategies. You'll always know what we're doing and why. You'll have clear practices between sessions. And we'll track progress so you can feel the change, not just hope for it. I work with adults, teens, and children through secure telehealth. If intrusive thoughts loop on repeat, if worry steals your sleep, if panic hits out of nowhere, or if a fear is shrinking your world — you don't have to white-knuckle this alone anymore. Book a session to take the first step.
Ideal clients
I serve early morning thinkers affected by chronic illness, anxiety, OCD & OCD-Related Syndromes, health anxiety, or addiction that are looking forward to engineering a life they truly want to live.
Treatment methods
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior. My graduate program was a psychodynamic program.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP therapy is a behavioral therapy that gradually exposes people to situations designed to provoke a person's obsessions in a safe environment. I have post graduate training in ERP, Habit-Reversal Training, and Prolonged Exposure.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a therapy technique that aims to help find new ways to respond and feel by changing thought patterns. CBT rests on the assumption that the way people think and interpret life events affects how they respond and feel. I have post graduate training in CBT.
