Thank you for reviewing my profile. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) of 25 years. I am licensed in TN and KY. I have worked with preschoolers, children, adolescents, adults, couple's and families in various settings including residential treatment facilities, outpatient clinics, community action agencies, school-based therapy, telehealth, and private practice both in-office and through telehealth. I also taught trauma in the family and treating diverse population classes to students in the Master's degree program for Marriage and Family Therapists at Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. I have lived in Upstate, New York, Western, KY and East Tennessee and currently reside in an equine community on the Big South Fork National Forest in Tennessee. I am also trained and was previously certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), and was previously certified as a Trauma Specialist through the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialist (ATSS). Both certifications required extensive training which I continue to utilize as applicable, however, keeping the certifications active did not add specific value to my practice. I am an avid horse rider and have a love for animals. I view my abilities and opportunities to help others through their journeys of recovery and life improvement as a great privilege that feeds my soul.

I'm a clinical social worker, and I finished my Masters of Science in Social Work in 2008 at the University of Tennessee. What this means is that I am trained to provide therapy services to people struggling with lots of different issues. It also means that I hold closely in mind what experiences people have had in their lives that come up for them and how their environments affect them as well.

It's often difficult to know what you want and to pursue what you want. Especially, if broken patterns and negative family cycles are making you feel stagnant. There is an excitement that comes from building your own self-assurance and confidence as you stand securely in the story you want to live. Sometimes we wait to change our story because we don't feel ready. My hope is that we can all have the wisdom and courage to explore ourselves with compassion so that we can better love ourselves and love others. Let's create a foundation that allows us to live balanced personally, professionally, and relationally.

Hi. It's nice to meet you! I am a mental health therapist that is located in Nashville, TN. I serve clients struggling with mood disorders, life transitions, trauma, grief, and eating disorders. I have two years of experience working in a residential facility for the treatment of eating disorders and a year working with substance use disorders in the underserved community. Client's often share that through our work, they have found a greater sense of self acceptance, learned how to regulate emotions, and developed practice tools to navigate daily challenges. They describe feeling more hopeful, more connected, and better equipped to live in alignment with their values. Witnessing these shifts- seeing clients move from pain and self-doubt to resilience and empowerment- is at the heart of why I do this work.

I am a native Memphian who enjoys spending time with my husband and two daughters. My career as a counselor began in the school setting where I served as a middle school counselor. I earned the nickname of "adolescent whisperer" from making deep and meaningful connections with teens and their families. I wanted to extend my services beyond the school setting, thus I earned the mental health license that allows me to practice outside of the school setting as well. I counsel from the belief that we are all imperfect beings working to navigate life’s challenges. I love to motivate clients to become the best version of themselves while attentively acknowledging their current situation without judgment.

Hello, my name is Robert Golan. I have been counseling for 30 years. I use a collection of techniques to help my clients. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as my primary approach. I have found this method to be very successful with clients. I prefer to use encouragement and help clients find their own motivation for improving their lives. I utilize mindfulness as well as behavior modification to augment my client’s well being. I also use Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when it is appropriate to help clients with past trauma. Counseling is a very collaborative process so I look forward to helping you achieve your goals. Education and Training I am a Board Certified Counselor (NCC) as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Tennessee and Georgia. I am also a Certified Professional Counseling Supervisor (CPCS) in Georgia. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lee University. I have one main intention for all clients with whom I work and that is to reduce suffering. Suffering takes a lot of forms, from struggling with discernment, overwhelm, thoughts that cycle and cycle and cycle throughout our minds...grief of something we've had or something we want to have -- and so much more. My approach to treatment is down-to-earth, nonjudgmental, and compassionate; and is leveraged with a sense of practicality and directiveness.
