First session is getting to know you and what you want to get out of your time in therapy the most. This is much like if I'm your therapy taxi that we will go forward with your desired outcome a priority.
My ideal way to experience therapy is by getting to know you, your story, your Playlist. Motivating you to keep telling, writing,and living this story by reconnecting with who and what you value most is time well worth healing.
DBT is growing skill with self regulation, building grit or tolerance for stress, becoming more mindful and intentional by thinking, doing life more on purpose, finding the middle path and value between extremes of good/bad.
In my executive solution focused therapy is all about what you're hoping for and how to find resources from past experience or how you envision the future ....recognizing your why can be very helpful with motivation.
