New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina with 10 years of counseling experience. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and have spent many years working in community behavioral health. My training and my work have shaped me into a clinician that understands a person's environment is as important as their mindset. You will find me to be supportive and an advocate for my clients complete health.
In our first session we will get to know a little about each other, discuss your goals for the the therapy process, talk through your history and background and talk about developing your treatment plan. You should leave the session with an idea of what the therapeutic process will look like and with some actionable items you can apply right away.
I believe that we all have the ability to manage our lives effectively and to find happiness and that therapy is a space that helps us to become the best version of ourselves. That belief translates into my practice by creating supportive space and genuine connection for you to flourish and grow. My clients find that I am attentive, empathic and always in their corner.
Therapy is both a rewarding and challenging experience, my goal is to create an environment where you feel safe and comfortable and where we can nurture your personal growth. My hope is that you find our sessions to be compassionate and collaborative. Most of the clients I work with have concerns around anxiety, depression, sleep issues, relationships and social challenges. I have also worked with many people who have experienced trauma or abuse. It takes courage to seek out change in life and I am here to support you on your journey to happiness and fulfillment. I look forward to working with you!
I take a person-centered approach to counseling that focuses on creating a supportive therapeutic environment where my role is to facilitate the personal growth of the client. The focus of therapy is in the present with the goal of increasing self-awareness, the ability to cope and interpersonal relationships.
If indicated by the clients treatment goals, CBT will be used to identify thought patterns and behaviors that are having a negative effect on a person's quality of life. This method works best with active participation from the client to practice new skills that support behavior changes.
I will utilize motivational interviewing to address feelings of ambivalence towards making change and to help a person move from being motivated by external factors to internal factors.
At times we all experience problems that are short-term in nature, but difficult to address. This therapy provides a method for addressing problems with a future focus and concrete resolutions.
