Are you feeling stuck and unsure of how to get past symptoms of anxiety, depression or past trauma? It's common to experience mental health-related challenges in life and to get stuck at times. We're not born with a built-in understanding of how to be psychologically healthy, so sometimes it's a good idea to get a little guidance from an unbiased professional. My ideal client is motivated to understand themselves better and to make the necessary adjustments to improve their quality of life.
During our initial sessions, we will work to identify the nature of the problem(s), which will then be utilized to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps to increase the enjoyment and meaning in your life.
I offer individual therapy and have specialty training in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for depression. I have spent the majority of my career in an outpatient hospital setting and have expertise treating a wide range of presenting concerns, including relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma and grief.
I work with individuals who want to make improvements related to their psychological functioning and/or relationships.
I utilize CBT to help clients make changes to thinking patterns and behaviors to help improve depression, anxiety, and to facilitate recovery from past trauma.

Ben is very dedicated and eager to help. He listens well, validates thoughts and actions when appropriate and is solution oriented when needed. I would like Ben to take on more of a lead role and challenge me to explore my emotions and my past. Ben also seems to glaze over mental health diagnosis. I have autism that impacts my personal relationships and social behaviours but he rarely mentions it. I have really enjoyed my time with Ben and have made significant progress in a very short time.

I think the initial impressions matter a good deal, and he was excellent and inspired trust from the start. I appreciated that he was listening and giving thoughts, but without feeling like he definitively had the answer or that there was only one solution. That felt like a kind of intellectual honesty or authenticity dealing with difficult problems

Way more comfortable than I expected to be. New people make me nervous so for me to be comfortable is good.
