I am a queer, trans, and polyamorous therapist with over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. My journey began in 1992, and since then, I have worked across the clinical spectrum—from high-acuity crisis assessment in emergency departments to specialized non-profits serving the LGBTQIA+ and HIV communities.
My practice is rooted in Feminist Psychotherapy, which means I view mental health through the lens of power distribution and systemic impact. I blend this with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients move toward a value-driven life. I provide a space where you don't have to "translate" your life or identity. As a member of the queer, trans, and poly communities, I offer the ease of lived experience. For my neuro-divergent clients, I offer 30+ years of dedicated, affirming clinical specialization. My goal is to let you stop being "the teacher" so you can finally just be the client.

When working with me, you can expect empathy, reflective listening, and evidence-based techniques such as Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you move toward your goals. I understand that attending therapy can be difficult—time, energy, and motivation can all be barriers. My passion is working with children, teenagers, young adults, couples and families to process trauma and difficult experiences so they can experience growth and healing within themselves and their relationships. Through my work with individuals and family's I have learned the deep importance of understanding "what has happened" to people rather than viewing people through the lens of "what is wrong with people". Likewise, the importance of understanding one's family of origin and how this shapes our views of people and the world and impacts how we relate with people and navigate our world. I work from a relational, psychodynamic, family-systems, trauma-informed, and neurobiological perspective. Feel free to reach out for more information!

If you're struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues and/or low self esteem; I'm here to tell you that there isn't anything 'wrong' with you. Hi, I’m Kris. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with training in EMDR and a deep commitment to creating a safe, compassionate space where you feel truly heard and supported. Outside of my work, I love traveling with my family, getting lost in a good book on my front porch, and finding ways to be creative. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and creating a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to foster growth, insight, and healing. I am deeply committed to empowering clients through a culturally and spiritually integrated approach that centers around the Alternative Christ-Like African Thematic Therapy (ACLATT) model.
ACLATT is a unique therapeutic model I developed specifically to support Christian clients of African descent. It integrates Christian values with African principles, providing a holistic, culturally sensitive healing experience. This approach emphasizes identity, love, faith, and hope, helping clients recognize their God-given potential and fostering a strong sense of purpose. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, supporting them in reframing perspectives and developing practical coping strategies.
My work is rooted in the belief that “Being precedes Doing”—by understanding one’s identity in Christ, clients are empowered to realize their gifts and purpose, which enriches their actions and overall well-being. Whether working with individuals, families, or couples, I am committed to helping clients achieve emotional healing, spiritual growth, and lasting transformation aligned with their cultural and spiritual values.
Many people are unsure how to help their family members or friends that are struggling with mental health or substance use, or where to seek help for themselves. I have spent the last 6 years working in substance use and mental health treatment and have had the privilege of meeting and working with adolescents, young adults, and adults in individual, group, and family settings.
Are you experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety and burnout?
