Hi, my name is Maria Ximena, a licensed psychotherapist, that's passionate about improving the lives of others by fostering mental health well-being. If you're seeking a therapist that works with you side by side, focusing on your strengths while intervening in areas that need attention, then you are in the right place. Specialty areas include: social and generalized anxiety disorders, those facing life transitions and changes; adult relationship and work issues/ conflicts; personality struggles; individuals in narcissistic relationships of varying kinds & survivors of same; perfectionism; codependency; depression and emotional dysregulation. With nearly two decades of mental health experience, I've gained exposure in an array of settings with diverse populations and diagnoses. Currently, I hold clinical licensures in both Florida and Pennsylvania. In addition, I'm a Florida Certified Qualified Supervisor hence have a strong interest in cultivating the professional development of our future clinicians. Other professional interest/ practice areas include: forensic mental health, criminology, aging and mental health, integrative behavioral health, psychiatric related clinical research trials, and my doctoral studies. In-person appointments available in Miami, Florida.
Our first session will consist of building rapport and gathering background information and relevant history. We will address what prompted you to reach out to me as well as develop general goals you'd like to attain in order to move forward in later visits.
Methods drawn upon are evidenced-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), & other research supported approaches. Therapeutic approaches are individualized to meet your needs and goals. By implementing evidence-based skills and supportive interactive feedback, I foster individual empowerment and self-sufficiency regardless of diagnoses. Also, I often utilize additional measurement tools or assessments to monitor and track progress and outcomes. Depending on the client, 'homework' (aids, activities, or tasks done outside therapy session) may be another appropriate tool worked into the therapeutic process.
My focus is client-centered, recognizing individual differences, needs, and goals; therefore, I continuously assess each client's presentation, shifting as needed throughout the therapeutic process and alliance to facilitate the positive outcomes we desperately desire. My approach is 'we are in this together' but still aim to empower, challenge, and support you along the way to individual success and sufficiency.
