Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together I will be getting to know you; your strengths; asking about specific challenges/stressors that led you to seek support; and creating a safe space for you to feel comfortable and just be yourself.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a Strengths-based therapist. I believe each person comes into therapy with their own strengths, abilities, and life experience; that I can build upon to help them feel better, happier, and more fulfilled.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Adults 18+ for Individual Therapy, Marital/ Couples Therapy, and Family therapy for Adult Children and Parents. I enjoy working with women and men that are very self-aware(or have a desire to become more self-aware); want to feel better; feel more confident; and feel happier and more fullfilled in their lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive-behavioral Therapy to help clients explore how their thoughts impact their feelings/emotions and mood. I then teach techniques to use such as thought-stopping, and replacing with positive self-talk that helps shift their perspective, decrease negative feelings, increase positive feelings, and improve mood.

Compassion Focused

I believe compassion and empathy are very important qualities of a therapist. I like to get to know my client first, and provide a safe place to talk about what's on their mind. I start by asking about their job, family, friends, and things they enjoy doing for fun. I ask about their strengths and current coping methods they use day to day. I explore their thoughts on current stressors impacting their life, losses, family of origin, and any possible painful/traumatic events they have experienced.

Couples Counseling

I get to know the couple first, and provide a safe, supportive space to help each partner feel heard, understood, and supported. I begin by asking how the couple met, how long they've been together, what they liked about each other in those early days of the relationship. I then explore what issues/concerns/problems bring them to couples therapy at this time, and ask what they are hoping to achieve in therapy.

Wonderful counselor. Would have loved to continue working with her, but she is limited to working with clients in her State only.

She listens and does not judge me. She gives me good ideas to help me conquer some long standing issues I have.

I really need to have a warm, open minded person to talk with. I have had therapist in the past that were rather cold and clinical imagine encourage me to share with her. Right now she’s asking questions and am I asking questions and making comments so we’re just in getting to know period. Right now they find a very likable and look forward to working with her.
