Hi! My name is Jessica and I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters Degree in Social Work and Clinical Social Work License in Pennsylvania. I have worked in trauma, medical social work, adoption, crisis intervention, and as a therapist specializing in depression, anxiety, and ADHD for nearly 30 years. I enjoy working with individuals and families. I try to empower my clients with a strengths based approach to whatever concerns they bring to therapy.
In our first session together we will get to know one another and talk about what brings you to therapy and what you would like to gain from our time together. This will help us to set goals and make a plan for meeting them.
Having worked in various settings, including crisis intervention and outpatient offices, I am able to build relationships with clients with various needs and emotional challenges. I strive to help my clients feel comfort in trust in the relationship we build in therapy.
I love working with individuals, both adults and children, to help them find solutions to the problems they come to therapy to solve. Helping clients to learn more about themselves and how to find more positivity and happiness in their lives is something that will never get old for me! Some clients come to therapy unsure of what they need help with and others have a very clear idea, and my expertise lies in meeting them where they are to work towards the goals they set.
I have worked with clients using CBT to treat many areas of concern for 28 years and have found it to be successful. I also work with family systems theory, some attachment theory, and evidence based treatments for ADHD which includes a lot of psychoeducation.
Understanding the dynamics of the issue you are struggling with is important. Helping to inform and educate you is a key part of healing and reaching your therapy goals.
There is a close connection between our bodies and mind, so learning how to manage anxiety or depression physically as well as emotionally will benefit you and help you to reach your goals.
Every weakness has a strength, so looking at your strengths and learning to focus on and utilize them to support the weaknesses you come to therapy to address is important and valuable.
Trauma is experienced by everyone, although in various ways and degrees. I have been trained in trauma informed care and have worked with clients regarding the trauma they have experienced in many settings. Trauma informed care impacts every other approach in the therapy process.
