Hello, I am Darrell Patterson Does your life seem to be dictated by everything around you except for you and the things you want and love about being able to be fully you without shame, guilt or apology? I assist people with centering or recentering their thoughts around their intentions, their attentiveness and their mindfulness in healthy and helpful ways to live life on a win-win basis. Together, we can identify what is healthy and helpful to your intentions giving you the ability to set a path that is supportive of you and the intentions you have for success in all areas of your life (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, financially and so on). We will explore a love for your whole self approach to address the areas of yourself that are not currently a welcomed part of the whole. Whether you are experiencing feelings of being overwhelmed, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I am here to assist you. Seeking therapy can feel uncomfortable but you are making a conscious choice to regain the best version of yourself. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. I believe the most important thing about therapy is being compassionate and introducing evidence-based techniques and interventions so you can overcome the adverse experiences that have become hindrances to your intentions for a healthy and happy life. Let's work together to find your win-win path and village.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with adults and young adults seeking supportive space to better understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges. I work with anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, and periods of transition or uncertainty. I also draw on my past experience working with children and teens to help parents strengthen connection and communication. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and engaged, while also being direct when helpful. I believe therapy can be meaningful and challenging without always feeling heavy and I often incorporate appropriate humor, warmth, and a genuine sense of humanity into our work. I use an integrative model that incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Our work often focuses on clarifying values, building coping strategies, improving relationships and making changes that feel realistic. As a therapist, I’m friendly, dependable, compassionate, and easy to connect with, and I’m deeply invested in creating a space where you can feel supported and at ease. My focus is on helping you reconnect with a sense of internal safety, build meaningful self awareness, and develop a more caring and grounded relationship with yourself. I aim to create an environment that feels steady, encouraging, and even a little bit light when it’s helpful, one where healing, resilience, and alignment can grow. Welcome — I’m John Dyson, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC), based in the foothills of North Carolina. I want you to take a moment to acknowledge that you’ve already taken the first step toward bettering your mental health. Let’s be honest — starting therapy can feel empowering, confusing, or even scary — sometimes all at once. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can explore concerns related to anxiety, depression, and self-care. I focus on helping clients build assertive communication skills and healthy boundaries, both with themselves and with others, in ways that support a more balanced, fulfilling life. Therapy is an opportunity for personal growth in whatever way you're seeking — whether that means navigating specific challenges or building the life you deeply deserve. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’m here when you’re ready. Together, we’ll clarify the challenges you’re facing and identify where you want to be — a month, six months, or a year from now. Then, we’ll explore actionable strategies to help you move forward. You'll leave each session with a clearer understanding of your situation and a set of “next steps” you can begin right away. There will always be space for feedback and collaboration in our work — including holding each other accountable as we walk this path together.

Hi, my name is Luz, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I worked as a teacher for over 15 years before making the journey into a community mental health career. I have experience in mobile crisis response, trauma, forensic mental health concerns. To explain who I am as a therapist, I reflect back to my role as an educator. In the classroom, there was a movement for the teacher to be less of a “sage on the stage” (teacher-centered approach) and more of a “guide on the side” (student-centered). To me, therapy is a lesson plan for a learning experience. It's a guide to develop what the client needs to learn in order to cope with whatever barriers are showing up in the client's life, whether that barrier is an internal issue, such as self-image, or how to cope with work stress. My therapeutic perspective is to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, compassionate guidance and support in an atmosphere of respect and safety while allowing clients to be the experts of their lives, much like “a co-pilot, a sous chef, or an assistant manager” of a client-therapist relationship. I use solution-focused elements to help move toward desired goals, cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and motivational interviewing to help gain understanding and clarity. Outside of traditional therapy, I enjoy the practices of mindfulness, guided meditation, aromatherapy, and Reiki. Finding a therapist that's the right fit can be a challenging task, but taking that first step towards a healthier you is worth it. I look forward to working with you to help break down those barriers and make progress in areas that most matter to you.

These times are urgent. Let us slow down.” ― Bayo Akomolafe Let's take things one breath at a time, slowing down instead of rushing through the hard parts. I don’t believe in fixing or solving everything all at once in the hopes it does not reoccur. Instead, I offer space for curiosity, vulnerability, and connection, because that’s often where healing begins. Together we’ll practice being with your experiences, not just getting past them. I work with people facing all kinds of mental health and personal life challenges, and I especially love helping clients untangle old patterns and build new ones that feel more like them. My approach is relational and HUMOROUS, humanistic, honest, warm, and collaborative. I work mostly with teens and adults. Outside of therapy, I’m usually testing a new hairstyle, thrifting, listening to Afrobeats, or walking my dachshund, Winston-Bishop.

My name is Jessica Scales and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC # 10501) in North Carolina. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP). I have been counseling for over 13 years, with children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 18-30) being my specialty areas. I enjoy helping younger children make sense of the world around them and figure out how to navigate the big emotions they experience daily. With adolescents, I feel it is important to make them feel heard and have a safe space to process past or present trauma, peer-related issues, family stressors, and personal changes and emotions. For young adults, it is important for them to have a safe space to explore life transitions and the emotional and mental stressors or effects that may accompany these changes. I believe in working with each individual in a holistic way, considering all areas of their lives: emotional, physical, spiritual, familial support, personal, environmental, financial, and social. I utilize interventions based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing while incorporating play-based care, faith-based care, and Expressive Arts techniques. The counseling space is the space for individuals to feel safe, heard, and able to process any life circumstances, big or small, without judgment and with unconditional positive regard. I intend to create this safe space for healing and each individual's counseling journey.

Kudos to you for recognizing the need to focus on your overall well-being including your mental health. At the beginning of therapy many individuals often feel overwhelmed with various emotions, especially talking to a stranger about their concerns. I seek to make my clients feel welcomed and heard by working with them to identify past and present life events and the impact they have on their interactions internally and externally. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling sets the stage for self-awareness, healing, grieving, feeling empowered which can lead to change and growth. What you allow will continue, and change is a personal choice. If you’re ready to challenge yourself and create the life you want, I look forward to working with you.

Hi, my name is Eva. I have been practicing in the mental health and substance-abuse field for almost 30 years and during that time I have come to learn a lot about what it takes to help a person move from one place to another and it has also taught me how to move from one place to another so that I too can live my best life . I believe that we all need help from time to time and someone to help us see clearly when we have difficulty seeing things clearly ourselves. My best practice of therapy is being eclectic, which means in simple terms that I use whatever technique I need to to reach my client wherever they are at. This includes all best practices that are evidence-based to work with women, young adults, men and children who all have a common need to feel heard and supported. I specialize in a variety of treatment modalities that include trauma, substance abuse, anxiety/ depression, and other mood/mental disorders, and I desire to help all my clients improve their current life situation so that they can begin to live their best lives.

I’m often asked, “What made you want to become a therapist?” The answer is simple: I genuinely enjoy helping others. I understand that life can be difficult because I’ve faced my own challenges along the way. My journey hasn’t always been easy, and therapy was an important tool that helped me find support, work through difficult experiences, and continue moving forward. I believe therapy is a journey, and you shouldn’t have to walk that journey alone. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, encouragement, and a safe space where you can be yourself, explore your thoughts and emotions, and work toward becoming the person you want to be. I’m passionate about helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges. I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, life changes, relationships, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I believe that change is possible and that everyone has the ability to grow. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands and have worked in the mental health and child welfare fields for more than 30 years. My years of experience have given me the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and through many different challenges. Most importantly, those experiences have taught me the importance of meeting each person where they are and recognizing that everyone’s journey is unique. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me enjoying the outdoors, getting lost in a good book, or spending time with my energetic and adorable miniature schnauzer, Felix.

Together, we'll create a warm, supportive space where you can truly flourish and take control of your life. I'm currently open to new clients and accept a range of insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Health Care. I also offer self-pay options. Plus, I provide online therapy sessions for added convenience.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, nonprofit director, and adjunct professor with a background in forensic interviewing and trauma-informed care, particularly with children exposed to abuse, violence, and human trafficking. I have worked in both hospital and child advocacy center settings and have presented nationally on child abuse prevention. As the wife of a pastor and a mother of two, I understand the realities of balancing leadership, family, and personal well-being. I am especially passionate about supporting ministerial leaders and their spouses as they navigate burnout and the demands of service. When I’m not working, I value rest, meaningful travel, and opportunities to recharge—ideally somewhere warm and restorative.
