New to Grow
I am pleased to hold space for individuals that is warm, relaxing, neutral and intentional. My goal is for clients to explore who they are, process as they need to, and become empowered to change as they see fit. With more than 20 years of Social Work Practice experience, and 5 years of experience providing therapeutic intervention, I do possess some specific treatment areas. They include, counseling individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease, counseling survivors of intimate partner violence and those individuals having difficulty dealing with life transitions. Other treatment areas include Depression, Anxiety, Grief, and stress management.
During an initial session, clients can expect to share a little about themselves. This could be something that doesn't necessarily involve the reason they are seeking counseling. The goal is for me to begin to build a rapport with my clients based on who they are and not by what their problem or current stressors in life may be. In return, I will share a little about myself as well. My intention is to create a safe and trusting environment for my clients that feels welcoming and genuine. Also during an initial session, clients may be asked to complete an intake questionnaire or other appropriate assessment tools. An explanation of my service delivery will be provided and clients will be given the opportunity to ask questions.
I meet clients where they are. I like to incorporate their personality in their therapeutic plan. I also incorporate various evidenced based practices that enable clients to challenge negative thinking patterns, offer the opportunity for them to engage in self reflections, and that promote and nurture growth. Results are individual and based on my client's motivation and drive to change. I am honored to partner with clients on their journey and to aid in fostering growth in various areas of their lives.
