Lashay has a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and a masters in Social Work from the University of New England.  

LaShay’s professional background spans throughout a multitude of professional settings and varying populations.  She has been employed by the state of Texas as a surveyor investigating small group homes and large state supportive living centers advocating for the rights of individuals who cannot advocate for themselves.  LaShay has worked with veterans, at-risk youth, teen moms, seniors, homeless and domestic violence victims.  She has worked in community mental health organizations, hospital settings, long term care facilities, managed care organizations, insurance companies, hospice, home health and in private practice providing individual, couple and family therapy.

On her free time, LaShay enjoys mentoring others in the field of social work, taking road trips, and listening to music.  LaShay enjoys life and loves to make people laugh.  She prides herself on being the light someone need every single day.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than a decade of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities through a wide range of life challenges. I earned my Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2008, after completing my Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology in 2004. My academic journey also includes two years at Florida State University and an Addictions Certificate from the University of Michigan, which I received in 2015.

The most frequent symptoms I can help with are managing ADHD, Depression, Bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, parenting, burnout, insomnia, COVID trauma, grief, and anger. I utilize a mix of CBT and motivational interviewing low key with a fair amount of optimism because CBT helps measure things and motivational interviewing is more people-friendly.  My research interests are managing grief as result of pregnancy or child loss and counseling victims of gaslighting and narcissistic relationships. My 17+ years of experience includes many years of counseling and listening, across various cultures, ages and personal client needs, with a few years as adjunct professor at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, LA:  3 years of work as a patient counselor in a hospital psychiatric unit, and 3 years of practice in a pediatric clinic.   My current solo practice is empathetic, accepting and non-judgmental, having also practiced as an EAP (employee counselor) in a very large hospital and city system, in which I was required to see anyone for any situation or issue they may bring to counseling.  This unique opportunity provided me with insights and understanding of people beyond my own personal scope of experience.  I believe this has made me more sensitive to the needs, hurts and stress of the various clients I serve. I am generally available 6 days a week for appointments, because I really do enjoy my practice and my clients.  I am licensed in Louisiana, Oregon and Florida and serve clients in those states, as well as in overseas countries.
I am old enough to enjoy my 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchild, together with my wife in a delightful sharing relationship.
