Nisheka Brown
I am Nisheka Brown, MA, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to supporting individuals and families who are ready to improve their emotional well-being and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. I welcome individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, anger, stress, life transitions, behavioral concerns, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or parenting challenges. Whether you are seeking support for a recent life event or have been struggling for years, I am committed to meeting you where you are with compassion, respect, and understanding.
First session
During the first session, clients can expect a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they can begin sharing their concerns and goals. We will discuss their current challenges, relevant background information, strengths, and areas they would like to address through counseling. Clients will have an opportunity to ask questions and become familiar with the counseling process. By the end of the session, clients should have a clearer understanding of their treatment goals and feel that they have a supportive partner in working toward meaningful change.
Strengths
With more than a decade of experience in the mental health field, I offer compassion, empathy, patience, and a nonjudgmental approach to each session. I build trusting therapeutic relationships by creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. My strengths include active listening, effective communication, cultural awareness, problem-solving, and the ability to meet clients where they are in their personal journey. I also offer extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families with diverse needs and backgrounds. I focus on each client’s strengths while helping them develop insight, coping skills, emotional regulation, and practical strategies to support meaningful change.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an individual who is seeking support, personal growth, and positive change in their life. I work with children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and older who may be experiencing emotional, behavioral, relationship, family, or life challenges. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and stages of life. I value working with individuals who are open to developing insight, learning healthy coping skills, improving emotional regulation, and working toward goals that support their overall well-being. I meet each client where they are and tailor counseling to their individual needs, strengths, experiences, and goals.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge negative or inaccurate thinking, and develop healthier ways of responding to difficult situations. Sessions may include cognitive restructuring, identifying triggers, developing coping skills, problem-solving, and practicing strategies that can be applied in daily life. I tailor CBT interventions to the client’s age, needs, strengths, and treatment goals to support improved emotional regulation, behavior, and overall functioning.
