I’m Kiley Cedotal, a licensed clinical social worker and therapist dedicated to helping clients navigate complex emotional histories, manage ongoing mental health challenges, and build more grounded, intentional lives. My approach is steady, compassionate, and practical—I focus on helping people understand themselves deeply while developing coping skills that genuinely support everyday functioning. I specialize in working with adults healing from childhood trauma, individuals striving to break intergenerational cycles, and people who feel marginalized or unseen because of identity, culture, sexuality, or appearance. At the heart of my work is creating a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, empowered, and capable of meaningful, lasting change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is meant to be a steady, grounding introduction to our work together. We spend time getting to know each other and creating a shared understanding of what you are hoping to gain from therapy. I’ll walk you through the basic ground rules that help keep our work safe and productive, and we’ll talk about how you prefer to communicate—both in sessions and between them—so the process feels comfortable and aligned with your natural style. I’ll also share a bit about my own communication approach so you know what you can expect during our work. We’ll go over the limits of confidentiality, including what is fully protected and the situations in which I am legally required to act in the interest of safety. This is an important part of establishing trust and clarity from the start. From there, we ease into your history and the concerns that brought you into therapy. We explore your current symptoms or stressors, your living situation, any medications you are taking, and the broader social or environmental factors influencing your well‑being. I also ask about your prior experiences with therapy—what felt helpful, what did not resonate, and what you are hoping to experience differently this time—so we can shape our work in a way that fits you well. By the end of the session, we begin identifying your goals for treatment and discuss the pace, boundaries, and expectations that feel right for you. You are never required to share more than you are ready to share; this first meeting is simply about building a foundation rooted in safety, clarity, and collaboration. My intention is that you leave feeling understood, grounded, and confident about the work we are beginning together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a therapist who brings a blend of clinical expertise, lived experience, and grounded emotional presence to every session. My work is shaped by years of supporting clients with complex emotional histories, chronic mental health conditions, and identity‑related stressors, but it is equally shaped by a deep belief in people’s capacity to grow when given a space where they feel genuinely safe, understood, and respected. One of the qualities clients notice early in our work together is my ability to create a space that feels calm, steady, and nonjudgmental. I hold room for complicated stories, conflicting feelings, and the parts of you that may have never felt welcome elsewhere. Clients often tell me they feel “easy talking to me,” not because their experiences are simple, but because they finally feel free to speak without being rushed, minimized, or misunderstood. My tolerance for emotional depth—and my comfort sitting with both pain and possibility—helps clients feel safe enough to explore what they have spent years carrying alone. My approach integrates evidence‑based therapeutic methods with a warm, practical style. I draw from modalities such as cognitive behavioral strategies, trauma‑informed therapy, psychodynamic insight‑building, and parts‑based work that helps clients understand the full spectrum of their internal landscape. I am highly attuned to patterns shaped by childhood trauma, intergenerational dynamics, and social or identity‑based marginalization. Together, we look at the beliefs and behaviors that once ensured survival but may no longer serve who you are becoming. My work is both reflective and action‑oriented. I help clients understand themselves deeply while also building coping skills that support daily functioning. This balance allows for real movement—not just insight, but relief, clarity, and change that feels sustainable. My clinical background includes working with adults navigating trauma histories, chronic mental health conditions, LGBTQ+ identity development, family-of-origin wounds, and the stressors of being high‑functioning while carrying invisible burdens. I have supported individuals striving to be more emotionally grounded and adaptable than the generations before them, and those working to maintain hard-earned gains in education, career, financial stability, and personal identity. Years of supporting clients from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds have strengthened my ability to hold space for experien

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve clients who move through life carrying layered emotional experiences and who want a therapeutic space that is grounding, honest, and oriented toward growth. Many of the people I work with manage chronic mental health challenges—such as anxiety, depression, or mood dysregulation—and need consistent support to prevent flare‑ups, maintain stability, and navigate the stressors that come with being high‑functioning in demanding environments. I also work with adults healing from childhood trauma. These clients often come to me wanting to understand how early experiences continue to shape their current relationships, boundaries, and sense of safety. They are ready to break long‑standing patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and reconnect with parts of themselves that may have been muted or dismissed for years. A significant part of my client base includes individuals striving to be more emotionally mature, more adaptable, and more stable than the generations before them. They are intentional about creating and sustaining intergenerational gains—whether financial, educational, social, or emotional. They want therapy to help them maintain momentum, refine their identity, and feel supported as they step into roles no one modeled for them growing up. I am also well‑suited for clients who feel marginalized or unseen because of societal norms surrounding culture, identity, sexuality, or appearance. Many of my clients carry a sense of being “othered” or undervalued, and they seek a therapist who understands nuance and who creates space for authenticity, belonging, and self‑acceptance. Overall, the people I serve are thoughtful, self‑aware, and committed to growth. They want to function better, feel better, and live with intention—and they seek a therapeutic relationship that honors both their resilience and their complexity.
