Calleen Jones
I'm Calleen, a licensed clinical social worker with 14 years of experience in medical social work. I specialize in helping people work through anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I encourage you as the client to take the lead , as you are the expert of you , while still being willing to challenge thinking patterns when needed.
First session
In a first session, I focus on getting to know you and understanding what's bringing you in, along with completing an intake assessment to get a full picture of your history and current concerns. We'll also review informed consent and practice policies together, so you know what to expect around things like confidentiality and scheduling. From there, we'll start establishing goals and a general plan for how we'll work together. Clients can expect me to listen closely rather than jump straight into solutions. I hope they leave feeling heard, validated, and a little more hopeful than when they walked in.
Strengths
I know that therapy can be intimidating, especially if this is your first encounter or you have had a negative experience with therapy. I like to bring some humor into sessions, which helps people feel at ease. I listen closely and seek clarity of your point of view. From there, I'm able to offer practical, grounded solutions alongside emotional support. I lean toward holding space, but I will challenge thought patterns as needed.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adults navigating anxiety, depression, or a major life transition. They are often feeling overwhelmed or stuck, but open to looking at their situation from a different angle. They may be hesitant about engaging in therapy, but they are motivated for change. They value having space to process, but also want practical takeaways they can act on. Their goals often center on feeling more like themselves again and building a better relationship with their emotions, rather than just managing a crisis.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected, and that changing one can shift the others. From there, we work on building more balanced ways of thinking, which often makes the feelings attached to that thought lighter, and makes it easier to act differently going forward. I blend CBT with person centered perspective, which means I look beyond just what's happening in your head and consider the full picture: your relationships, work, health, and the systems and circumstances around you.
