New to Grow
I am a faith based counselor, I work with first responders and veterans, college students, new moms, and women who are retiring and asking what now? I enjoy helping people at the different stages of life in adult hood. We don't stop growing just because we're adults! I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Narrative Therapy when needed. I believe the best modality is following the Bible and living God's will for our lives. I have a laid back approach and prefer to get to know the person first then the issues. I love to laugh and try to bring a light hearted approach to sessions. I also know when to confront with kindness and help people get "unstuck". I am a proud graduate of Liberty University and am a band mom to a high school marching band member. I love to read in my free time. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor for Telehealth in Louisiana. I currently accept most insurances in Louisiana, with more being added weekly.
During our first session I get to know you, why you are coming to therapy and learn about your current stressors and some about your background. I find out what your faith means to you, and how we can use empirically validated modalities along with your faith to help you through what you are experiencing.
I am a single mom to a high school marching band member! I love to read, watch true crime, and create. In the past I have been a volunteer mental health ride along with my local police department, I found that to be very valuable. I am the daughter of an Air Force Veteran and granddaughter of a Navy Veteran, I love supporting our first responders and military.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to work and make progress, someone who knows something needs to change and wants to work with the therapist to make change happen. I ask clients to read sometimes to expand their therapeutic experience. The majority of therapy happens outside the therapy session, during your day to day life. Being able to insert a little knowledge every day into your routine is the most helpful. I am a therapist that makes you think and asks hard questions, I prefer clients that are ready to work and can handle being gently challenged.
