New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) currently serving as a school-based social worker at Washington-Marion Magnet High School, where I have worked since January 2, 2024. In addition to my school-based role, I provide assessment services for a mental health agency, allowing me to support individuals with diverse behavioral health needs. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in December 2010 and my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in May 2012. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to supporting individuals, families, children, and communities through compassionate, client-centered, and evidence-based social work practice. In my practice, I utilize evidence-based assessment and intervention tools in both individual and group settings. My professional experience includes conducting psychosocial assessments, developing treatment goals, providing crisis intervention, facilitating therapeutic groups, teaching coping and life skills, providing psychoeducation, and collaborating with families, schools, community organizations, and other service providers to promote positive outcomes. Working in the social services field has always been more than a career for me; it has been a passion. I view my ability to serve others as a gift that has continually made room for growth, purpose, and meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. I am committed to using my knowledge, experience, and clinical skills to empower individuals and families, promote resilience, and help those I serve recognize their strengths and potential.
I am non-judgmental and ready to assist in figuring life out.
An ideal client is someone who is ready for change and willing to take the first steps toward healing. I value working with individuals who are open to self-reflection, willing to explore the challenges impacting their lives, and motivated to develop healthier coping strategies and meaningful solutions. I believe the therapeutic process is a collaborative journey, and I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to grow, heal, and recognize their own strengths.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns and explore how these thoughts may contribute to emotional distress and behaviors that interfere with daily functioning. Together, we challenge and replace distorted or negative thoughts with more realistic, balanced, and productive ways of thinking. I also incorporate CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, identifying triggers, behavioral activation, problem-solving, coping skills development, and relaxation strategies. I encourage clients to practice these skills between sessions so they can apply what they learn to real-life situations. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, strengthen coping skills, and feel empowered to make positive changes. I tailor CBT interventions to each client's developmental level, individual needs, strengths, and readiness for change.
