I am Tamiko Brown, a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Anxiety, Depression, and Spiritual Counseling. As a native of Bunkie, LA, I mostly enjoy serving others. I received a BS in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry and Biology and a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana. Prior to beginning my counseling journey, I worked as a pharmacy technician in the hospital setting for 25 years. I taught pharmacology for 11 years as a program director for Virginia College and Unitech Training Academy.
During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you not only get your life back but helps to transform your life. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first session and sustained improvement thereafter. Ralph Waldo Emmerson quoted, "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." It would be my honor to serve you on your quest to discover that within you and help guide you on your journey through the healing process.

I specialize in anxiety and depression by helping women to practice the art of self-love and achieve total life transformation. By using Eclectic Therapy, Ms. Brown will help your child or teenager by using a flexible approach to psychotherapy that draws from multiple theoretical perspectives and techniques involving CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness to develop a holistic treatment plan to address the client's specific needs, developmental level, and circumstance. Like many of the women we probably both know, they have many demands on their time and many roles to fill personally and professionally. So, while some critical points often bring people to therapy, the work we do support not only that acute piece of their story but also the day-to-day challenges of figuring out how to live the life they want. If you and I work together, we’ll start by examining any snarled inner beliefs. Based on what we find, we’ll develop targeted coping skills, challenge your pesky inner critic, and seek to improve your mood as soon as possible. As we identify the core values at play, we’ll be intentional about connecting to what’s most important to you, which will allow you to adopt aligned beliefs and healthier behaviors. From that more grounded place, you’ll be better able to navigate the demands of being a mom, career woman, and wife. Life as a woman is still a lot to balance. Of course it is. But remember, we're all human, so along with everything else, we’ll be cultivating crucial self-compassion. During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you not only get your life back but helps to transform your life. If you recognize yourself in any part of that, I would love to work with you, to offer the support you need to thrive in every aspect of your life.
