The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring over 20 years of experience integrating clinical expertise with spiritual and mental health advocacy. My key strengths lie in creating a safe, trauma-informed space and providing deep, compassionate empathy. I excel at helping you process complex wounds from trauma, grief, and life transitions, translating clinical insights into practical, everyday tools. My approach stands out because it focuses on holistic, grounded support. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I honor the profound connections between your emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Holding a Master of Divinity in Psychology and Counseling allows me to seamlessly blend advanced psychological frameworks with personal faith and spirituality for those who desire it. This integration ensures that your unique healing journey is completely tailored, balanced, and deeply respected.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals, youth, or families who are navigating the heavy weight of anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. They might feel stuck, overwhelmed by life transitions, or disconnected from themselves and the people they love. In terms of mindset, they are often at a crossroads—ready for a change, even if they feel uncertain about how to get there. They value deep reflection, are open to a holistic perspective, and appreciate a space where their personal values and spirituality can be safely explored alongside clinical strategies. Their primary goals are to: Process deep wounds and move past systemic or personal barriers; Find alignment across their emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being; and Gain practical tools to reclaim a sense of peace, balance, and resilience

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a highly collaborative, practical tool to help you understand the powerful connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When you are dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma, it is easy to get trapped in negative, automatic thought loops that dictate how you feel and act. Here is exactly how we will use CBT in our sessions to break those cycles: Identifying Unhelpful Thoughts: We will pinpoint specific, automatic negative thoughts—like catastrophizing or all-or-nothing thinking—that trigger your emotional distress. Challenging and Reframing: We will examine the evidence for these thoughts. Together, we will gently challenge them and reframe them into more balanced, realistic perspectives. Behavioral Activation: We will identify small, actionable changes you can make in your daily routine to help disrupt feelings of depression or anxiety. Skill-Building: You will learn concrete coping strategies, such as grounding techniques and problem-solving skills, to manage intense emotions in real-time. Because my approach is holistic, we don't stop at the cognitive level. We will connect these CBT techniques back to your physical reactions and your spiritual values, ensuring the mental tools you learn feel genuinely grounded and aligned with who you are.

Faith based therapy

In my practice, Faith-Based Therapy is integrated with deep clinical excellence to help you draw strength from your beliefs during your healing journey. For many, spirituality is a vital source of resilience. By combining psychological clinical tools with faith-based insights, we ensure that your therapy honors your relationship with God and respects the profound connections between your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Here is how we will utilize Faith-Based Therapy in our sessions: Integrating Scripture and Prayer: If you desire, we can incorporate biblical principles, scripture reflection, and prayer into our sessions to provide comfort, hope, and absolute truth. Reframing Pain through Faith: We will explore your experiences with trauma, grief, or anxiety through a spiritual lens, helping you find purpose, meaning, and God's presence in difficult seasons. Aligning Truth with Thought: We will connect clinical strategies (like CBT) with biblical truths, replacing negative, harmful automatic thoughts with the life-giving promises of your faith. Healing Spiritual Wounds: If you have experienced spiritual burnout, doubt, or hurt from past religious environments, we offer a safe, grace-filled, and entirely judgment-free space to heal. This approach is always collaborative and client-led. Your spiritual journey is deeply personal, and we will integrate faith as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, ensuring you feel completely respected and supported.

Trauma-Focused CBT

In my practice, I use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as a specialized, evidence-based approach specifically designed to help children, teenagers, and families heal from the destructive impacts of trauma. When a young person experiences traumatic events, it can deeply disrupt their emotional, physical, and behavioral development. TF-CBT provides a highly structured, safe, and collaborative pathway to emotional recovery. Here is how we will use TF-CBT in our treatment together: Psychoeducation and Parenting Skills: We start by helping both the youth and their caregivers understand trauma symptoms and behaviors. I equip parents with positive parenting strategies to support their child's healing at home. Relaxation and Affect Regulation: I teach concrete coping tools—such as deep breathing, mindfulness, and grounding techniques—to help regulate physical distress and manage intense emotions in real-time. Cognitive Coping: We identify and reframe unhelpful, inaccurate thoughts or self-blame related to the traumatic event, replacing them with balanced, realistic truths. Trauma Narrative and Processing: When the youth is ready, we gently create a trauma narrative. This involves sharing the story of what happened through writing, drawing, or talking, which safely reduces the emotional power and fear attached to the memory. In Vivo Mastery and Joint Sessions: We gradually address any trauma reminders or fears that the youth is avoiding in daily life. Finally, we hold joint sessions with the caregiver to share the trauma narrative, foster open communication, and heal the family unit together. Because my practice focuses on the whole person, we connect these evidence-based clinical steps with your family's personal values and spiritual strengths, providing a deeply grounded environment for lasting resilience.
