**Due to demand; regretfully, unable to accept "couples" at this time**
I am Dr. Kawakami and I have been in the mental health and addiction field for over 20 years. I am a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, an author, an empowering media personality, and a proud veteran of the United States Army.
You may have seen me as "The Mind Doctor®" on hit TV shows such as Bravo’s Married To Medicine, VH1’s Love and Hip Hop, WEtv's Bold & Bougie, WEtv’s Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta working with rapper, producer, actor, and superstar Bow Wow, and WEtv’s Brat Loves Judy with rapper, producer, actress, and Funkdafied super star, DaBrat!
While I have been viewed by millions of people on television, my humble beginnings actually started on television as a six-month-old baby being placed for adoption and featured on the “Thursday’s Child of The Week” segment.
After being adopted in Los Angeles, California, I grew up in a multi-cultural family from East Side San Jose, California. Prior to earning my Ph.D. in Psychology via an academic institution, I had already earned my Ph.D. in "Hustling" via the streets of the Bay Area in the dope game. I acknowledge a divine intervention and acknowledge, “Only God could have me go from selling dope and destroying lives to offering hope and restoring lives. Look at Gawwwwd!”
Hi. I am passionate in serving mothers and their families in the perinatal and postpartum period I have experience working alongside families in a medical hospital serving not only in pregnancy and postpartum mothers but supporting NICU and perinatal loss families. As a perinatal mental health certified professional, I understand the barriers and stigma in seeking help as a new mother. I look forward to working with you during this life phase and beyond.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia, National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) under Postpartum Support International. I received my Master's Degree of Art in Professional Counseling and Bachelor's Degree of Science in Psychology and Minor in Child and Family Development at Georgia Southern University.
I began my career working with persons with chronic and persistent mental illness and substance uses disorders in several inpatient psychiatric facilities, residential addiction rehabilitation and ACT Team. For over 7 years, I worked as a clinician in medical inpatient setting under a consult liaison service assessing, treating and supporting persons with mental health, addiction and dual-diagnosis. Most recently, I am working in a PHP/IOP level of care serving persons with anxiety, OCD, depression and trauma. My approach is person-centered to allow clients to reach and maintain life goals at their pace to lead a fulfilling life.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion and understanding. Whether you’re coping with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, or issues related to self-esteem and self-worth, I am here to support you on your journey toward healing and growth.
With over 15 years of experience in mental health, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds—including active-duty military members, veterans, women, adolescents, teens, and young adults—across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
I believe that everyone possesses the strength to overcome life’s obstacles. My goal is to provide a warm, safe, and supportive therapeutic environment where you feel empowered to create meaningful change and move toward a more fulfilling life.
My name is Kristen Taylor, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Alabama. Since 2018, I have been dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the core values of social work—empowerment, autonomy, and a strengths-based perspective. I believe each person is the expert of their own life, and I strive to meet clients where they are, honoring their unique experiences, goals, and values.
I take a holistic, client-centered approach, recognizing the importance of the whole person and the environments that shape their well-being. In our work together, I aim to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and respected.
Through collaboration and individualized care, I help clients build on their strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward a greater sense of balance, resilience, and fulfillment.
I practice by a simple model: words are only soothing to the ear but my acts of tenderness and kindness act as a beacon to guide you through your turbulent times. This simple phrase means I can offer words of encouragement but it is my actions that make a difference. Please recognize that life can one better or bitter. We can work to build to make life better.
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or wishing you could reconnect with the joy you once felt in your relationships and life? Balancing a career, marriage, and family can be deeply challenging, especially with today’s pressures. As someone who’s been married to my best friend for 40 years while raising well-adjusted children, I understand how stressful these roles can be. Many couples find themselves worn down by the lack of support from their partner or children, and the financial and emotional demands of daily life. Together, we can work to ease this strain and help you find direction and fulfillment again.
I have past experience working as an educator in a special needs private high school for almost 15 years. My personal education journey includes a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Master's degree in Professional Counseling. I have lived in Georgia all my life. I have been happily married for 30 years and have raised 3 wonderful boys. I am a child of God and believer in Jesus Christ.

Ready to move from "understanding" your pain to actually healing from it?
You might have a lot of insight into your past, but you’re still stuck in the same loops. Whether it’s the racing thoughts of anxiety or the heavy weight of a "not enough" narrative, I am here to help you feel like yourself again.
I specialize in working with women, students, and children (ages 14-18) who are ready to stop just talking about their problems and start resolving them. I help clients navigate life transitions, relationship wounds, and the fallout of trauma—from childhood abuse and divorce to the gaslighting of past partners.
My approach is gentle but firm. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with knowledge of different systems, I don’t just offer a listening ear; I offer a roadmap. Together, we will connect the dots between your "person-in-environment" and your internal triggers to silence the intrusive thoughts and stop unhealthy patterns for good.
When not working, I am typically spending time with my family and our dogs. I love reading and going to the beach. I enjoy travelling and visiting our nation's National Parks.

We all need support in dealing with life's challenges, but sometimes just asking for help can feel as overwhelming as the problems for which we are seeking support. I provide a holistic approach to therapy by incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with other therapeutic modalities, including Brainspotting (which is a tool to access neurobiological trauma experiences that are stored deep within the subcortical brain). Building and practicing coping skills is a vital part of therapy with me. Whether you are looking to learn new ways of dealing with behavioral, emotional, or relationship patterns, I offer my clients a compassionate, supportive, yet challenging environment in which to achieve their full potential. I am committed to providing a safe therapeutic environment for you to learn to use healthy coping strategies to manage the challenges of daily life.
I’m Dr. Daren Waters, Sr., a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Empowerment Coach, and Counselor who helps individuals and couples move from conflict to clarity and from pain to purpose. For over two decades, I’ve guided clients through restoration, identity, and alignment—creating safe spaces where they can be heard, valued, and renewed. My heart is to help people rediscover hope, rebuild trust, and experience lasting growth in every area of life.
I am here to help you remember who you are and build the capacity to hold life’s waves and find ways to root back into yourself no matter what is happening around you.
My approach is person centered and creative. I weave nervous system regulation, expressive arts, mindfulness, and storytelling to help you feel safe in your body, clear in your mind, and hopeful about your future. Whether you are moving through grief, caregiving fatigue, anxiety, trauma, or simply the disorienting transitions of being human, I will meet you with compassion and honesty.
I know the terrain of loss, overwhelm, and starting again. My own story has taught me that healing is never linear but it is always possible. Therapy with me is an invitation to be fully yourself, to process what hurts, and to grow into the life you long for with more presence, confidence, and ease.
Deciding to begin your therapeutic journey can feel overwhelming and sometimes impossible. My goal is to create a safe environment for you to grow, succeed, and explore the things that you have been struggling with. This could be feelings of anxiety, trauma, communication issues, difficulty establishing boundaries, toxic relationships with family or friends, or a major change in your life that has left you feeling “what do I do now?” Our work together will include identifying triggers and patterns of behavior, as well as recognizing roadblocks and reframing negative thoughts.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addictions Counselor whose work is rooted in truth, love, and compassion. With nearly 15 years of experience in behavioral health, I bring a grounded, human-centered approach to therapy—one that honors the whole person, not just the symptoms.
My clinical philosophy centers on helping individuals return to their authentic selves by exploring identity, emotional truth, and the stories that shape their lives. I integrate trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorder expertise, and evidence-based modalities with a deep respect for each person's lived experience.
Whether addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, or life transitions, I aim to create a therapeutic environment built on safety, curiosity, and genuine connection. My belief is that healing happens when people feel seen, supported, and empowered to step into their truth. My mission is simple: to help individuals navigate life with clarity, courage, and compassion—one conversation at a time.
Feeling disconnected from yourself or the life you’re living? I support clients seeking deeper self-understanding and liberation from patterns and identities that no longer serve them. In a compassionate, collaborative, and affirming space, we explore healing and empower you to create a life that feels aligned, authentic, intentional, and alive.
I prioritize communication that is open and self-expressive. I listen deeply, reflect what I hear, and offer feedback that supports insight and growth. This is a space where you don’t have to filter yourself, your voice and lived experience are welcome.
What matters most to you shapes our work. Together, we define your aspirations and translate them into meaningful, tangible change. Our focus is on integrating growth into your daily life so that transformation is not just understood, but embodied.
You may notice that some sessions are held off video or in a hybrid format. This is an intentional part of how I practice. As a neurodivergent clinician, not always being on video allows me to be more fully present, attuned, and grounded in the work. Many clients find this creates a more comfortable space to show up openly and authentically.
That said, I aim to meet clients where they are, and we can always discuss what session format feels most supportive for you.
I am a compassionate mental health professional with over 13 years of experience who is committed to helping individuals, couples and families navigate life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and purpose. I bring a strong background in counseling and psychology, with experience supporting clients across a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship issues, trauma and emotional regulation.
Hi, I’m Jacqueline Gordon, a perinatal mental health therapist and the owner of Open Book Counseling. I specialize in supporting mothers and birthing parents who are navigating anxiety, depression, identity shifts, and the emotional weight that can come with pregnancy and postpartum. I also work with individuals processing complex trauma, particularly those who have spent much of their lives being “the strong one.”
My approach is warm, honest, and collaborative. I create a space where you can show up fully as you are, while also gently challenging you to grow beyond survival mode. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel more grounded, connected, and aligned in your life and relationships.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia with experience helping individuals reconnect with themselves and create more intentional, balanced lives. I work with clients who feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, whether that’s in relationships, life transitions, or their own internal dialogue.
Many clients enter into therapy feeling uncertain, disconnected, or weighed down by stress, anxiety, or unresolved experiences. Through our work together, clients begin to feel more grounded, more clear, and more in control of their lives. They learn how to set boundaries without guilt, manage their emotions with confidence, and show up in their relationships in a way that feels more authentic and aligned.
My clients often leave therapy with a stronger sense of self, a deeper understanding of their needs, and the ability to move through life with greater peace, clarity, and intention.

I believe our greatest gifts often live at the intersection of growth and giving, and I look forward to walking alongside individuals as they rediscover their strengths, gain clarity, and create meaningful change.
I believe in creating a space where you don’t have to perform or pretend. Therapy with me is collaborative and deeply human — a place where emotions are welcomed, questions are explored, and growth unfolds naturally.

Hello and Welcome! I am an LCSW serving clients in Georgia. I received my Masters of Clinical Social Work from the University of Georgia and have been in the private practice setting for 10 years. I am non-judgmental and laid back with a good sense of humor, but also action oriented. I use a holistic approach to mental health and wellness since mind and body are intertwined.
Dr Ahmed served as an educator, and trained students in the master’s and Doctoral Programs in clinical skills. She served on several Professional Boards. published her scholarly work in reputed Journals; presented at International and National Conferences; received several grants for Collaborative Research.
I specialize in the areas of Stress Management, Relationship Issues, Conflict Management and Self Esteem Issues. Dr Ahmed’s Theoretical Orientations are very Eclectic/Integrative: Cognitive Behavior Family Therapy, Solution Focus Family Therapy, Strategic Family, Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. Existential and Experiential.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. For more than twenty years, I’ve worked with adults, teens, and families facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles. My main orientation is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which I use to help people understand and heal the protective and wounded parts of themselves. I also integrate attachment-based and emotionally focused approaches to strengthen how clients relate to themselves and to the people who matter most.
I come to this work as both a professional and a person who’s lived through many of the challenges my clients face. I’m a parent who knows the daily strain of trying to be present for your family when you’re already running on empty. I’m a trauma survivor who understands what it’s like to rebuild trust in yourself after being hurt. I’ve dealt with painful medical conditions that have tested my patience, resilience, and faith in the system. I’m a husband in an interracial marriage, which continually deepens my understanding of identity, perspective, and what it means to hold space for difference with love and respect. And I’ve been both a therapist and a client, so I know how vulnerable it can feel to sit in that chair and hope the person across from you really gets it.
Because of those experiences, very little shocks me and nothing makes me see you as “less than.” I don’t view trauma, pain, or mistakes as signs of weakness — they’re evidence of survival. My job is to meet you there with honesty, compassion, and respect, and help you find your way forward at a pace that’s right for you.
I am a person centered therapist dedicated to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. I work along with clients to help them build self awareness, confidence, resilience, and personal growth through a holistic approach that supports the whole person.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self esteem concerns, and mindset barriers. I tailor each session to meet the client’s unique needs and goals while using evidence based approaches such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and strengths based therapy.
My goal is to empower clients to create positive change, develop healthier coping strategies, and feel more connected to themselves, their relationships, and the life they want to build.
I am licensed in Georgia with 20 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, & trauma and abuse. I also have experience working with depression. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
Are you a person who has lived through or is living through hard things? Is the use of alcohol or drugs getting in your way or in the way of someone you love? Do you despair about life at times? I am a caring person who listens really well and has more than 30 years' experience using research-proven skills to help you move freely and lightly into the future you want. A MilitaryOneSource provider, I have a special heart for military personnel, first responders and their famiiles.
Dr. Lisa Karla has a wide-range of experience in Behavioral Health that spans 15 years. Her therapeutic approach is Integrative. She prefers psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies. She has worked in psychiatric inpatient facilities, outpatient counseling for substance and drug addiction, vocational rehabilitation, psychosocial clubhouse, and inpatient medical bedside counseling (in Mother-Baby, Oncology, Emergency, Intensive Rehabilitation, Post-Acute Surgery, ICU, Trauma and Coronary Care Units}. She has also maintained a private practice for 7 years counseling individuals and couples, marital, pre-marital and spiritual counseling. She also performs court-mandated substance/alcohol abuse assessments. She enjoys writing, conducting research, public speaking, instructing and illustrating.
My philosophy towards Therapy is the following:
"The nice thing about things that are urgent is that if you wait long enough they aren’t urgent anymore.” --Dr. Amos Tversky The demands of modern society have created an environment in which every moment of every day seems to be urgent. This constant sense of urgency leads to stress, which in turn makes you feel overwhelmed and unfulfilled. You may feel like each day is no more than a series of crises and that you can’t keep up with everything. Finding your way out of this loop requires stepping outside of your daily routine and figuring out what really matters to you.
It takes a great deal of courage to seek help for oneself. I commend you for taking the first step towards improving your life and will stand by and encourage you along this journey together.
I am not your typical therapist as I started my career in finance and have an undergrad in Business. While I could succeed in this path, I did not find meaning in it. I see becoming a therapist as a calling and not a vocation. I first worked in acute mental health as an advocate, then as an addiction counselor, and eventually after receiving my MSW as a dual diagnosis therapist. I have much empathy for the hurting and have always been drawn to those who have suffered from mental illness, addiction, and the effects of trauma. As such, I have been a mental health advocate, addiction therapist, mental health therapist, trauma therapist, psychiatric director, and behavioral health COO. I feel like I have seen all levels of behavioral health care and use that wealth of experience, resources, and specialized training to help others. I believe that compassion and empathy are keys to change and try my very best to meet you where you are. I also value diversity and have worked with a wide range of the problems that individuals and couples struggle with. Most of all, I am not a respecter of persons and have worked with the homeless to the CEOs of major corporations. I feel that we are all just humans and that we all struggle with similar challenges and problems. I have also worked with a great diversity of people from very diverse cultures and many international clients.
Welcome! I look forward to working with you. I have had the opportunity to work with children and adults for over 20 years and enjoy being able to walk with you through your therapeutic journey. I mainly use Cognitive behavioral therapy and emotional therapy; the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for the work that I will do. If you are looking to address stress and reduce symptoms, my practice is one of acceptance. My/our time together is free of judgment.
HI! My name is Mary Beth Ridderman. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I am proud to be a member of Chi Sigma Iota, an International Academic and Professional Counseling Honor Society.

My specialties are working with individuals who have symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, anger, traumatic brain injury, or who are experiencing family issues.
Clients find that I genuinely like people from all walks of life, I am non-judgmental, and I am an excellent listener. I look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and working with you to achieve your personal goals.

Low Self-Esteem, guilt, and depression are internal culprits that often suppress an individual externally. My Specialty is with teens and adult women who have been traumatized as a result of sexual abuse or violence. I believe that healing starts with removing the “band-aid” taking off the mask and breaking free from the past and moving forward .

You've made an important decision to start therapy. I'm glad you're here. It has been said therapy with me is like talking to your "auntie". I will help you see yourself but in such a nurturing way you receive it, and it allows you to do your work.
My gifting is in assessment and working with adults and couples. I have always worked in some form of mental health assessment in my career. Most recently I spent 5 years in Grady’s Psychiatric ER. Allowing me to quickly assess needs and develop a life plan with the client.
Couple work is also a skilled area for me. Especially when communication has broken down evidenced by constant arguing. Therapy can break couples out of the destructive tit-for-tat cycle. Broken trust, infidelity and unforgiveness are also areas I specialize in.
Women’s concerns and issues are important to me. I’ve done extensive work in healing their “father wound”. Tapping the spiritual relationship for healing. Topics include relationships, self development and growth. Another very successful service is my therapeutic walkthrough of popular books. Titles have included RC Blakes’ Queenology and Sophia Nelson’s The Woman Code. Currently, I am authoring The Majestic Woman Mindset, which comes from a woman’s empowerment curriculum I developed.
TALK|THERAPY LIVE, is a podcast on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmxgzmGXbnqKKizcNu32WuA

I don't want to see you just survive I would like to see you thrive. Seeking out therapy can be scary and confusing at first, I am here to help make that decision less cumbersome.
My journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor was shaped by a deep desire to support others through life’s challenges—especially during times when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or alone. Like many people, I’ve experienced how difficult it can be to navigate personal struggles without the right support system, and I’ve always been drawn to helping others find clarity, purpose, and hope during those moments. Over time, I realized that being a counselor would allow me to not only listen and empathize, but to walk alongside people as they identify their goals and uncover their inner strengths. What drives me every day is the opportunity to be part of someone’s growth—to offer a space where they feel truly heard and supported, and to help them discover that change is possible, even when it feels out of reach.
