Rochelle Tyrell
Hello! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to feel heard, understood, and valued. My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's needs. Through Inner Connections Coaching & Counseling, I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating life's challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, stress, and life transitions.
Above all, I want clients to leave sessions feeling supported, empowered, and equipped with practical tools they can use in everyday life.
I believe therapy is more than addressing challenges; it's about discovering strengths, building meaningful connections, developing healthier perspectives, and creating lasting change. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult season, or simply seeking personal growth, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to connect, begin building trust, and explore what brought you to therapy. My priority is creating a welcoming, compassionate, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences at your own pace. We'll discuss your concerns, personal history, strengths, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. I'll also explain the therapeutic process, answer your questions, and work collaboratively with you to identify initial goals. I understand that beginning therapy can feel overwhelming or unfamiliar. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or your relationship, my goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, supported, and hopeful about the journey ahead. You don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.
Strengths
I bring empathy, patience, authenticity, and a nonjudgmental approach to every session. I believe that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to meaningful growth, and I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves openly. My counseling style balances compassionate listening with gentle challenges that encourage self-reflection, accountability, and growth. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I adapt sessions to meet each client's unique needs, strengths, and goals. I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques. I also value creativity and interactive activities when working with children and adolescents. Above all, I want clients to leave sessions feeling supported, empowered, and equipped with practical tools they can use in everyday life.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone seeking a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to navigate life's challenges, gain clarity, and discover hope for a better tomorrow. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, emotional challenges, or significant life transitions, you deserve to feel heard, understood, and supported. I welcome children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families who may be struggling with emotional regulation, communication, self-esteem, boundaries, or finding balance in their daily lives. You don't have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. You simply need a willingness to explore your experiences, discover your strengths, and consider new perspectives. Together, we can identify challenges, develop practical solutions, and build healthier coping strategies. My goal is to meet you where you are, encourage personal growth, and help you recognize that your current circumstances do not have to define your future.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and how these patterns influence their daily lives. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns, identify emotional triggers, and develop healthier ways to respond to life's challenges. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to each client's individual needs. Through guided discussions, self-reflection, practical exercises, and real-life examples, I help clients challenge negative thoughts, develop effective coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen problem-solving skills. I believe that changing how we think can positively influence how we feel and respond. My goal is to empower clients with practical tools that promote self-awareness, confidence, resilience, and lasting personal growth.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed skills to help clients better understand and manage their emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve their relationships. Through mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness techniques, I help clients learn how to respond to challenging situations rather than react impulsively. My approach emphasizes balancing acceptance with change, recognizing that we can acknowledge our emotions while developing healthier ways to navigate them. Together, we explore practical tools for managing stress, communicating effectively, establishing boundaries, and making thoughtful decisions that support emotional well-being and personal growth.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional flexibility, and the ability to navigate difficult thoughts and feelings without allowing them to control their decisions. Together, we explore personal values, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop strategies to move toward meaningful goals. Rather than focusing solely on eliminating uncomfortable emotions, I encourage clients to acknowledge their experiences with compassion while making choices that align with their values. My goal is to help clients build resilience, develop healthier perspectives, and recognize that difficult experiences do not have to prevent them from living fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness-based techniques to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical responses without immediately judging or reacting to them. Through grounding exercises, breathing techniques, guided reflection, and present-moment awareness, I help clients develop practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and everyday challenges. I encourage clients to practice mindfulness as a way of slowing down, recognizing emotional triggers, and responding to situations with greater intention. My goal is to help individuals develop self-awareness, emotional balance, and healthier ways of managing life's highs and lows.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients recognize their strengths, identify achievable goals, and discover practical solutions to life's challenges. While understanding past experiences can be valuable, this approach also emphasizes identifying what is working and building upon existing successes. Through collaborative conversations, goal-setting, and thought-provoking questions, I help clients envision positive changes and identify manageable steps toward achieving them. I believe that even small changes can create meaningful progress. My goal is to empower clients to recognize their abilities, build confidence, and move forward with renewed hope, clarity, and purpose.
