New to Grow
My dream came true to start Mustard Seed Counseling with my husband after he retired from the military. I love Jesus, family, coffee, and helping people improve their mental health. I have been practicing for 4 1/2 years. It is an honor for me to walk with my clients through hard times but also to celebrate their victories with them.
In our first session together, there will be a lot of questions and possibly a few laughs. The focus will be on getting to know each other to make sure that this relationship will be beneficial for you as the client. Therapists are not one-size-fits-all and we all understand the importance of finding a good fit! I will do my best to listen to and understand your needs and hopefully walk with you towards your goals.
I am a great empathetic listener and I will always gently push you towards your therapy goals. I do not give advice or make you talk about something you do not want to discuss. My approach to counseling is allowing the client to lead the session based on current needs/stressors and having tools and strategies to share to help.
I best serve individuals and couples committed to work towards their goals and ready to learn ways to improve their mental health needs! Whether that is couples working on communication skills, conflict resolution skills, setting healthy boundaries, and/or exploring their attachment styles. Or individuals learning coping skills to improve depression/anxiety symptoms, or children/teens wanting to improve focus at school or improve their self-esteem.
I identify as
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I have used SFT for the last 4 1/2 years with clients to help them identify possible solutions to improve depression and anxiety symptoms.
Christian Counseling
I have practiced Christian counseling for the last 4 1/2 years with clients who wanted to add faith-based tools such as scripture, prayer, and worship to the therapeutic process.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used a CBT approach with many clients over the last 4 1/2 years. CBT is helpful with processing negative self-defeating thoughts that decrease self-esteem and increase depression and anxiety symptoms. CBT can be very helpful in processing past trauma.
Grief Therapy
I have used various Grief Therapy resources for the last 4 1/2 years to help clients with processing loss. Grief is both a universal struggle and personal journey, and it is honor when I am able to help clients through it.
Gottman method
I was Gottman Method level 1 trained while working on my master's degree. I have used it over the last 4 1/2 years to help couples with communication and conflict resolution skills.
