Somewhere along the way, we turn the volume down on the inner voice- our intuition- and it was likely replaced with self-limiting beliefs, negative self-talk, difficult relationships, or poor boundaries. Messages from childhood, traumatic experiences, and exposure to stressors in our environment often lead to a disconnection from our true self- which I believe to be the root of much of our pain, both individually and collectively. I believe that all of the strengths and resources we need to do this work are within us, and I view my role as a therapist to support and witness you in discovering and embodying these resources. My background is rooted in community-based social work, addiction treatment, and the intersection of therapy and spirituality. I've worked extensively with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD/C-PTSD, addiction, and family systems. In my practice I work to integrate the mind, body and spirit into the therapeutic process. I've studied (and continue to study) astrology, yoga, and somatic practices, and often integrate these modalities into sessions. ***If you are interested in working together but do not see a time/day that works for your schedule, please reach out to me directly. I was born and bred in Kentucky and have been living in the great state of Florida since 2013. I decided to become a clinician due to my own personal experiences with abuse, feelings of unworthiness, anxiety, fear, self-hate, and low self-esteem. I found a way out of my dark tunnel and emerged into the light, and I want to show others how they can do the same! Empowerment comes from within, and it has been within you all along. My job is to help you bring it to the surface, flex those muscles, and realize how strong, resilient, and amazing you really are!

Hey there ! I completed graduate course work in Human Development and Psychology at Harvard University, focusing primarily on challenges faced by the LGBTQ community, in relationships and in society as a whole. I have a Masters Degree in Mental Health from Cambridge College in Cambridge Massachusetts. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Master Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) in the State of Florida, practicing as a psychotherapist for over 15 years. While I have been trained in many different styles and “theories,” my helping approach is fairly straight forward and draws on many different traditions: In my view, there is no doubt that what we have experienced in the past shapes who we are and how we see ourselves, others and the world. Therapy is a process of connecting the dots between where we have been and how those experiences influence our thinking and behavior today. Often, our past experiences have us thinking and acting in ways that are irrational and self-defeating, causing problems in all areas of our lives. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and unconditionally supportive space for folks to share who they are and what they have been through. I partner with them in taking what we might call a “therapeutic microscope” to the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that accompany the circumstances of their lives, supporting them in reinforcing what works and finding alternatives to what does not.

Hello there! I am so happy you took the first step in reaching out. A little about me, I am first and foremost here for you. You drive how we work together. I am a gentle therapist in the way that we work together. I do not feel making anyone cry is necessary and feeling safe is of utmost importance. This does not mean you are not going to learn and improve. We will work hard and you will know I am here to work with you and not make you feel any worse than you may already feel. I have years of experience working with individuals, couples and partners. I am also a Veteran and understand that lifestyle. I have worked with non-traditional families, taught parenting courses, worked in the schools with children, specialized for 9 years in terminal illness and end of life issues and much more. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the approach I base most of my work on with you. This approach works well with many situations such as managing ADHD, depression, anxiety, partner/family communication and relationships, etc. Many times changing the way we think about a situation and how true our beliefs on the situations are, it will make changes in our beliefs and in turn change the way we feel (as a positive). Granted, we will ultimately work the way that fits your needs best. If you just need someone to listen, I can do that. If you are ready to dive into your current situation(s) and make them feel better, I will walk with you on that journey as well. Together we will find the answers you are searching for. I look forward to working with you. Let's take the next step together!

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Florida rather than a city like Tampa?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
