My name is Patty and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I operate from a person-centered strengths based perspective. This means that you, the client, are the expert in the room and the strengths that you bring in are important. The journey to a fulfilling life may require journeys into old memories, new relationships, current and past job experiences, and so much more. I would love to be a part of this journey with you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is a getting-to-know you phase where I try to learn about you but you are also seeing if I am a good fit for you. During this first session background information is collected along with what the presenting concern. During this session the goal is to begin building a working therapeutic alliance through the use of conversation.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to help clients feel at ease in the relationship. Therapy is a loaded word with all sorts of stigmas and negative connotations that new clients may bring to the room. My first job is to provide an environment where the client feels safe, heard, and valued. Once a solid alliance is created then the real work begins.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

It is my belief that each client has within them everything they need to lead a fulfilling life. The person-centered perspective that I operate from puts the client in the position of expert.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is a skill that can be learned and practiced on a regular basis. Being mindful just means paying attention to what matters, the present. These skills can be used in every part of life.

Trauma Informed Care

The question is always "What happened to you". Trauma informed care is a way of discussing and processing old emotions and pain without being revictimized in the process.
