Hello Potential Client! My name is Kelly, and I am a licensed mental health counselor working in the state of Florida with over 8 years of experience. I have worked in populations of all ages, particularly adolescents, young adults and middle-aged adults with a wide range of issues relating to depression, anxiety, anger, grief & loss, trauma, abuse, addiction, relationships, parenting, family conflict, blended/foster family, work/career, school, life changes, self-harm, suicidal ideation, self-esteem, felony/probation, LGBTQ, gender identity... and so much more! My counseling style is unique, because I focus on the Relationship with my client. I believe that once a Genuine Connection is established, Trust can then take place, and the Sky is the limit on what can be accomplished at that point. Without a connection, there is no foundation to stand on. My clients have described me as "very easy to talk to." My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral, Strength-Based, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, as well as Wellness therapies tailored to meet your needs. I became a counselor, because I truly Care about people. I meet my clients where they are at and without judgement. I am a Survivor of my own traumas, and am solid proof that it doesn't matter where you came from and what you've been through in life, you can still have the life you so Desire. All that matters is where you go from here. I truly believe that there's a Better life out there for everyone if.. 1) You truly Want it , and 2) You are willing to put forth the Commitment and Effort it takes in order to achieve it. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao Tzu I look forward to working with you! :)
In the first session, clients can expect to go through the proper intake questions, which allows me to gather information about their background and what they've gone through in their lives. Through this session, I hope to build rapport with them and give them hope that this will be a start to a good thing and wish to continue treatment.
First off, I want to say that my treatment methods and tools are all simple. I wanted to use an approach that was extremely simple for me to learn, simple for me to teach, simple for my clients to understand, and simple for them to actually use in their own lives even after therapy has concluded. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy a lot, because I find it to be the easiest to understand and adapt to with any issue you go through in life. I also teach mindfulness exercises to help center my clients in times of anger, anxiety and/or depression. Self-Care will always be an integral part of every client's treatment plan and ongoing process with me, since our physical, mental and emotional well-beings are all connected. Optional: Spiritual Counseling is available if the client is open to it.
My biggest strength, in my opinion, is that I truly love people.. all people, ages, colors, shapes and sizes. I am extremely passionate about what I do. I love meeting new people, learning more about them, helping them grow, and watching them transform through the therapy process. Clients tell me that I am very easy to talk to, because I come from a non-judgmental, very welcoming, and open-minded place. I am also a survivor of many things in my life, in which I use to show my clients that you can go through anything in life, and still have the life that you so desire. You have everything instilled inside yourself to survive anything in life, and I vow to show my clients that through the process.
