Trauma can be anything that holds us back or has a lasting emotional triggering that affects us on a conscious or sub conscious level. The therapy is meant for healing, not coping. Many times depression and anxiety are results of negative events that are stuck in our brains and the cells of our bodies. What EMDR creates is a space to heal from what has happened to us, rather than just cope with it the rest of our lives.
