Hello, and welcome! I'm a licensed mental health counselor and support adult clients resolve longstanding internal and external relationship conflicts, navigate traumas, and align your values and life goals.

I specialize in supporting adults and couples to identify clearly who you really are, beyond negative thinking and out-of-date beliefs, and strengthen skills to live your life with purpose and meaning.

I listen deeply and support you unconditionally to try on strong, evidence-based skills and strategies to aid you in identifying your best choices aligned with new awareness of what you want most in life.

First session

Your time is important, and I want to help ensure that every session feels useful to you. With your brief pre-session assessments completed, during the first session you will be encouraged to let me know at least one goal at the moment, whether short or longer term. You will know that I care about you and what you're willing to share about your needs. We'll start on that right away. Before we end the session, I'll ask you to evaluate our time together, to clarify ways to best support you. We'll then prioritize initial thoughts so that these are clearly addressed in the treatment plan I'll send to you within 24 hours.

Strengths

For a long time, I struggled with a sense of belonging that I recognize now as innate. From the moment we first connect, I offer a boundless sense of belonging and curiosity for you and your journey. Many clients come to me without a clear sense of purpose or meaning even when life feels very full. I provide a safe and unconditional space to work through that and gain new insights. We can explore your needs and interests at any depth with safety and stability. No matter what, you will be offered useful, evidence-based skills to let go of what’s no longer needed, to try on what can help going forward, and find out what works best for you. I’ll be right with you where you are, every step of the way.

Ideal clients

If you're reading this, you may already know you want more out of life, even if your life looks appealing to others from the outside. To them, you may seem like you're doing just fine, but on the inside, old beliefs about yourself or old patterns that just don't serve you anymore feel like they're holding you back. You know you need to move forward, but you may somehow feel you’re not enough or that you're not living up to your potential. Maybe you question what you think you wanted. You may feel a lot of anxiety being vulnerable and talking about it, and that's okay. It takes commitment, but you have the idea you can do this with someone who gets you.

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I regularly integrate ACT. Sometimes we have a clear sense that what we really need in this period of life is to be fully present, open up more, and focus on what matters most to us. ACT can be extremely helpful to tune in and consistently make action-oriented decisions one after the other, anchored by our core values.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This is very useful in my practice when a client feels stuck in patterns and is having difficulty sorting out the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are driving decisions. CBT is also very helpful where we might be caught up in an addiction of any kind -- in other words, anything that we enjoy, that we can't stop, and that creates problems for us (adapted from G. Mate). As needed, we could also incorporate Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help resolve specific traumas or PTSD.

Compassion-Focused

Negative self-talk regularly stalls progress. We will never hear another voice more than we will the voice inside our head. If your self-talk tends to be hostile and unfriendly, we would cultivate compassion work so that you can be with your own suffering in a different way that supports understanding, stick-to-it-iveness, and ultimately better outcomes in life all around.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I believe that our emotions and emotion regulation are vital keys to just about everything. When we are able to identify emotions and regulate them, our options and decision making expand enormously. It's not specifically about "getting calm" -- it's more about mitigating what's happening inside us and making space for better thinking.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS regularly evokes new spiritual understanding for my clients whose spirituality is very important. Think of it as all of the "parts" that make up our view of the world and our story in it. Each part is important, and all the parts have different purposes. This is so helpful when an issue feels very rigid. Honoring the different parts, we can get into a different type of dialogue with it.
