New to Grow
I believe healing begins with understanding. Many of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that bring people to therapy are not signs of weakness or failure—they are often adaptations that developed in response to difficult experiences, stress, or adversity. While these patterns may have helped you cope or protect yourself at one point in your life, they can sometimes create challenges in relationships, work, and overall well-being. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment. Together, we will work to understand not only what is happening in your life, but also why certain patterns may have developed and whether they continue to serve you today. Earlier experiences in my own life taught me that adversity can shape the way we view ourselves, others, and the world around us. Through these experiences, I developed a deep appreciation for how the mind and nervous system adapt to help us navigate challenges. The mind is designed to prioritize safety and survival, and many of the symptoms people experience are understandable responses to difficult circumstances rather than character flaws. While these adaptations may have been necessary at one point, healing often involves learning new ways of responding that better support the life you want to build. I work with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, and self-esteem concerns. My goal is to help clients increase self-awareness, build resilience, strengthen boundaries, and develop practical tools for lasting change. Together, we can help you better understand yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with greater confidence, flexibility, and self-compassion.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, collaboration, and respect. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are facing, your goals, and the strengths that have helped you get this far. There is no pressure to share everything at once, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer understanding of how we can work together moving forward.
In my sessions, I help clients build self-awareness, resilience, emotional regulation, self-compassion, confidence, communication skills, and healthy coping strategies. I believe many of the challenges people experience are understandable responses to difficult life circumstances, and part of healing involves understanding those patterns rather than judging them. I also help clients recognize nervous system responses, identify strengths they may overlook, and develop practical tools for navigating life's challenges. Healing rarely happens all at once. More often, it occurs through small moments of insight, growth, and change that build upon one another over time. My professional and life experiences have shaped the way I approach therapy. As a military veteran, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and someone who has experienced adversity, I understand that life's challenges can significantly impact how we view ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. This perspective reinforces my belief that people are not broken. Often, the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors they struggle with are adaptations that once helped them survive difficult experiences. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I find it more helpful to ask, "What happened to you, and how did you learn to survive it?" From there, we can work together toward healing, growth, and lasting change.
My ideal clients are people who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or carrying more than they were ever meant to carry alone. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, or simply feeling like they have lost sight of who they are beneath the demands of daily life. You do not need to have all the answers before starting therapy. I believe healing happens when people feel safe enough to be authentic, explore difficult emotions without judgment, and build on the strengths they already possess. My goal is to provide a supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.
Other specialties
I identify as
Attachment-based
I use attachment-based therapy to help clients understand how past relationship experiences may influence their current emotions, behaviors, and relationships. This insight can support greater security, connection, and confidence in daily life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Sometimes our thoughts can make difficult situations feel even heavier. I use CBT to help clients recognize unhelpful patterns, build new coping skills, and make meaningful changes that support their mental health and overall well-being.
Trauma Informed Care
I provide trauma-informed care that recognizes the important role the nervous system plays in our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. By helping clients better understand and regulate their stress responses, we can create a greater sense of safety, resilience, and capacity for healing and recovery.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I believe therapy is most effective when it recognizes the unique experiences, identities, values, and cultural backgrounds that shape each person's life. I strive to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that respects the whole person and creates a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood.
Eclectic
I take an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs, strengths, and goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. Drawing from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based techniques, and Compassion-Focused Therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to develop practical skills, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change.
