I have been working in the field for 10 years and have been a LICSW since 2021. I believe it's important to engage actively in therapy and put in the necessary effort to make changes that will help you reach your goals. I often use humor and seem to have the ability to make people feel like they are talking to a friend...albeit a friend that is very honest, sometimes sarcastic, can challenge you, accept you, fight for you, and sometimes make you mad. Thankfully, it's all part of the process of making sustainable changes! I attended training to work specifically with law enforcement, veterans, and other first responders. I was an embedded social worker in a MN police department for 3 years. I utilize different therapeutic modalities depending on your individual needs. Some examples include: Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
