I am a Seminary trained clinical therapist. I am also a combat veteran and have experience serving in ministry overseas. I have a prior career before becoming a therapist, working about 12 years overseas. My approach blends practical tools with thoughtful conversation, helping you better understand what you’re experiencing while also building strategies you can use in everyday life. I have successfully worked with adults from many backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and religious faiths. I have experience treating clients struggling with a wide variety of mental health conditions and stressors including, but not limited to, anxiety/PTSD, and depression. I am trained in many clinical skills such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, and EFT to name a few. My ministry experience and training allow me to integrate faith easily into therapy whenever clients believe it will be most beneficial.
Our first session is focused on understanding you and what led you to seek therapy. We’ll spend time discussing your current concerns and goals, and then collaborate on a personalized plan to guide our work together moving forward.
With nearly 20 years of professional experience prior to becoming a therapist, I bring a practical, real-world perspective to therapy. I understand the challenges of balancing career, relationships, responsibilities, and the day-to-day pressures of life. My background in ministry and clinical training allows me to support clients as they navigate the intersection of faith, life transitions, and mental health concerns in a thoughtful, respectful, and grounded way.
I work best with adults who are looking for practical, real-life solutions to the challenges they’re facing. Many of my clients come to therapy seeking relief from anxiety, depression, and related concerns, and are motivated to make meaningful changes in their lives.
Faith based therapy
I am a seminary graduate and I have served in ministry abroad. I try to make practical, real world solutions in how to integrate faith into day to day life.
Christian Counseling
As a disciple of Christ, it is important to recognize that our faith is a part of how we see and interact in the world. I approach my counseling with this in mind.
EMDR
I have been using EMDR for over 5 years and have extensive experience helping reduce the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD in adults.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is an evidence based model that is central to my therapeutic practice. Having a tool to weigh and measure our thoughts, and then help change them is a tool that everyone will benefit from.
Psychoeducation
I help teach about the body and mind as to help make sense of the challenges we often have between wanting something to change and actual change. I also try to help each person understand why things affect them the way they do. I also try to help my clients understand why I teach certain techniques or tools, not just teach them.

James has been very instrumental in helping me navigate transition and particularly very very helpful in helping me walk through a Biblical divorce and helping me to evaluate my steps in alignment with my values and beliefs without compromising them. That has been very reassuring and challenging. I can sense my capacity and awareness growing exponentially as James has served as a barometer and guiding voice as he says, assessing my math to see if it "math-ing" correctly!

James has shared his life experiences with me to help me understand his solutions for my healing. He has given me so many resources to learn from to suit my purposes. I have significantly benefited from his counsel.

1st session has left me hopeful, James was friendly and understanding and non-judgmental. He is also Faith based which, for me, is very important that who ever I'm letting into my mind is God focused. Looking forward to my next session. He is also a true listener, I never felt interrupted or cut off. He not only offered reflection but also provided good insight and encouragement.
