I have been utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in therapeutic relationships for over a decade. Throughout this time, I have received comprehensive training and gained extensive experience with this modality. CBT is an incredibly effective tool, as it allows individuals to identify and challenge negative cognitions, ultimately transforming them into more positive, adaptive thoughts and behaviors.
I use DBT skills training to reinforce the mindset shifts we aim to achieve. I provide education and create opportunities for clients to practice key skills, including interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. When appropriate and with client willingness, I assign homework to help solidify these skills and encourage lasting change.
EMDR therapy is a specialized intervention used to treat chronic trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction. I typically recommend this approach after working with a client for a few sessions and assessing that they would benefit from it.
Gender-affirming therapy is a treatment approach I deeply value, as it helps clients process and reduce feelings of gender dysphoria. I take pride in empowering my clients by creating a supportive environment, while also connecting them to gender-affirming resources within their communities.
I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment or stress. Through practices such as meditation, relaxation, and focused awareness exercises, I guide clients in cultivating a greater connection to the present moment. This mindfulness approach promotes emotional clarity, reduces anxiety, and fosters a sense of calm and stability.
