My name is Armenta Acevedo. I'm a licensed mental health counselor who is passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges. Experiencing personal transformations can bring both liberation and joy, but they can also cause upheaval and stress. Every day, we go through a series of small revolutions, realizations, adjustments, and changes that expand and contract our beings. As a mental health practitioner, my goal is to create a safe and trusting environment where individuals can release, process, unpack, and unwind. Essentially, it's a space to breathe. It's crucial to learn to show yourself kindness and compassion, even if you struggle with feeling deserving of it. Because you truly do deserve the best life has to offer! Today is the day to embrace it.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Let's get to know each other and make sure I am a good fit. I will ask questions and find out what are the things you want to work on in therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have experience working in several community-based agencies that dealt with trauma, domestic violence, and abuse or neglect of children. This career path provided me with real-world knowledge as well as valuable insights into humanity. Beyond the fundamental skills, my greatest asset lies in the recognition that chaos happens in life- whether it emerges suddenly or accumulates through a series of changes: Chaos can be messy. It can be embarrassing. It can be tragic. It can be life-altering. However, the key aspect to remember is that with the right support, chaos can be understood and ultimately overcome.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

It is important to recognize what the attachments in your life mean.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

New situations require difficult changes, accepting and being dedicated to work with what cannot be changed, and work with what can.

Humanistic

This type of therapy centers in on each person's potential for growth, self awareness, and self actualization.

Motivational Interviewing

This is an everyday tool, a beneficial skill one can use to challenge negative thinking and narrate a different future.
