At 18 I was blessed to have a therapist who knew exactly how to talk to me and what to say, even if he was injecting humor into a humorless situation. I help my clients to let the trust and rapport build over the first few session, during which I start to pick the tools I'll use to stabilize and then engage in a more meaningful, psychodynamic way. I am a Rogerian and Existential therapist, which translates into unconditional positive regard for my clients, the action of highlighting any success, even if it's a small one, and building on pre-existing strengths. I am meeting my clients where they're at - wherever they are on life's journey, and my intention is to travel down that road along with them, opening each door, witnessing the pain, but always experiencing these challenges together so that the therapist is holding the space and creating a safe parameter within which symptoms, cognitive distortions, and trauma can be processed. I encourage clients to show up for their appointments as continuity is key to success when dealing with mental health issues.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My passion for counseling started in 6th grade where I was nominated to be a peer counselor and I saw the power of how communication, active reflective listening and conflict resolution could shift relationships. I grew up in a chaotic household and studying psychology helped me to develop compassion, empathy and understanding where there was profound pain. My own experience with trauma, depression and anxiety helps me to understand clients from a lived perspective.

I am a straight-forward but empathic therapist, who also appreciates the same from her clients. I also believe in the social work mission of starting where the client is, so sessions are based upon that analogy. Although I have a doctorate degree, my scope of practice does not fall under psychological testing, pharmacological practices, nor community services. I am an LCSW from CA. I am a rarity, as I was born and raised in Los Angeles and have lived all over southern California. I have also traveled throughout the state and known how the state is unique. I have experience working with the military, Veterans, and their families. I also have experience working with families and children of all ages. I have experienced working with mental health, chronic pain and cancer. This therapist only treats low to moderate clients. If you need therapy for court, I may not be a good fit for you. I will not be providing session notes to the court on your behalf. Also depending on what the nature of court is/why you need treatment, may not go beyond the initial assessment/first visit. If I do not feel comfortable with the reason, nature of court or any of anything along those lines; I will not be moving forward. I feel that I need to be direct with this as I have already provided previously "if you are seeking services for court; I would NOT be able to help with that. Please find another provider." Yet I am still receiving these referrals; therefore I am being direct about this and what expectations are. My journey to mental healthcare I did a lot of volunteer work and held a few AmeriCorps positions (America's version of PeaceCorps). I fell in love with helping people and I was told in order to achieve this, I would need to go back to school and complete my MSW.

I was born in the US, but I was raised in Mexico. I lived in Tijuana for 10 years when my parents decided to move us across the border to Chula Vista, California. As a first-generation Mexican-American, I experienced a duality of cultures. I was often judged for either being “not Mexican enough” OR “not American enough.” I also faced enormous pressure to be successful – to justify my parents’ having left their beloved country so my sibling and I could have a better life. This is one of many reasons I decided to follow this path: to help those who feel alone in their journey. That’s how I felt when acculturating to this country. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at San Diego State University (SDSU). I was going to go directly into the workforce and eventually go back for my master’s, but an awesome professor challenged me to apply right away so I wouldn’t lose momentum. So, that’s what I did. I ended up getting my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Southern California. It took some time and courage to finish all my licensing requirements, but it was worth it! I’ve been licensed as a clinical social worker in California since 2019. I am certified in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring a blend of professional expertise, lived experience, and deep compassion to every therapeutic relationship. My journey began long before I entered the mental health field—shaped by my years as a military veteran, where resilience, service, and human connection became the foundation of my work. Today, as a clinician and a mother, I approach therapy with the same grounded empathy, strength, and relational focus that guide me in both motherhood and service. I specialize in supporting individuals living with severe mental illness, including those navigating complex trauma, mood disorders, psychosis, and long-term emotional or behavioral challenges. I understand that many of the people I work with have faced experiences that disrupted their sense of safety, identity, and hope. My role is to offer a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered to move at a pace that honors their unique history and needs. I use trauma-informed, evidence-based practices rooted in acceptance, mindfulness, and emotional regulation to help clients build stability and reconnect with their strengths. At the heart of my work is a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves a life worth living. I am passionate about helping people rediscover that possibility—whether through rebuilding coping skills, strengthening relationships, exploring values, or learning how to hold their pain without letting it define them. My approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and centered on the person as a whole, not just their diagnosis or past experiences. If you’re seeking a therapist who will meet you with authenticity, patience, and unwavering support, I’m here to walk alongside you as you create a life that feels meaningful, grounded, and truly your own.
