LMFT, 20 years of experience
New to Grow
Benzion is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their mental health journey. He holds a Master of Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary, graduating in 2007. Benzion believes in a holistic approach to care, building a trusting and collaborative relationship with each client to foster hope and lasting change. "I am humbled by the courage and vulnerability my clients display every day. I am honored by the privilege of being with you in your most intimate places to develop trust and build hope for the future. Thank you for considering the journey of building a better future with me."
In our first session this will serve as an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to feel comfortable sharing in your story. I want you to experience a low pressure environment so that we can build a foundation together for your work. We will work through intake and introduction as we clarify your reasons for seeking therapy. We will also address your personal and family history and clarify the overview of your mental health. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask me questions around my approach in therapy, my experience, and what you can expect from the therapy process."
"I believe that every individual has the courage and capacity to heal and grow. My role is to provide a safe space and a tailored therapeutic experience to help you achieve your goals. I use a multimodal approach, which means I draw from several evidence-based techniques to create a personalized treatment plan for you. " My primary therapeutic modalities include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A powerful therapy for processing and healing from trauma and PTSD. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): A practical, goal-oriented approach for changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. The Gottman Method: A research-based framework for helping couples and families improve communication and strengthen their relationships. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): A skills-based approach for managing intense emotions and improving interpersonal relationships. Attachment Therapy: An approach focused on understanding how your early relationships impact your current behaviors and connections. In addition, I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Feedback Informed Care to ensure our work together is effective and aligned with your unique needs.
"I am focused on working with motivated individuals who are facing life transitions. I am looking to work with those who are motivated and actively seeking change in their lives. It is possible that you might be someone who is stuck but are now in a position to take action. You may also recognize a pattern that you were looking to break. I believe that you were looking for a therapist who can provide guidance and tools, but that you understand that you are the primary agent in your own transformation. Everyone that steps into therapy is demonstrating courage and I want to invite the individual who is looking to build on that courage with bravery in order to confront the difficult in their lives. Even if you find yourself struggling I want you to know that you have a deep capacity for growth and that working together we can unlock a better version of you."
In my practice I seek to integrate Christian beliefs and spirituality with the psychological principles in order to support individuals, couples and families. It is key for me to implement an integration of both faith and Psychology where I can utilize practices of faith along side my therapeutic training, like cognitive behavioral therapy. Through a Christian counseling model I also came to take a holistic view of the individual to support their emotional and psychological concerns.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a major tenant of my therapeutic approach as I am to help individuals understand how thoughts influence feelings and behaviors. I work with individuals to help them understand how their interpretation of their circumstances and events lead to extenuating depression or anxiety. I also support individuals in working around a model that focuses on the present to help reclaim a sense of power and accountability. Reclaiming a sense of power and accountability within this model is connected to active participation and being able to work alongside the individual in addressing specific themes that also align with homework and being able to follow through on changing behaviors to support improving emotions, feelings, and behaviors while challenging thoughts.
