Hello, my name is Layla Hernandez. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in the mental health field. I'm fluent in English and Spanish and take a client-focused approach to therapy. I utilize evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Solution-Focused, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), to ensure the best outcomes for my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other by asking questions, identify your needs and expectations for therapy, gather some history, and create treatment goals. I will provide a safe space and the support you need to explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, identify symptoms, and discuss current coping skills.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I started working in the mental health field over 18 years ago. As my experience grew, so did my passion for mental health and understanding of human behavior. I am passionate about helping clients understand their emotions, heal from trauma, overcome challenges, and improve their lives.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, stress management, grief and loss, relationship issues, adjustment, and trauma.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in challenging unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors while also facilitating the replacement of negative thoughts with more realistic alternatives.

Attachment-based

Using attachment-based therapy, I work with clients to identify childhood attachment experiences and understand how early experiences impact their current relationships and behaviors. We work together to build a secure attachment and healthier relationships.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize DBT to help clients manage and regulate their intense emotions, as well as improve their relationships, DBT assist in learning skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
