Hi. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. Hi, I'm Marina,
Reaching out for therapy can be one of the hardest steps to take, and I know that many people come to their first session feeling nervous, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin. My goal is to create a space where you can exhale, feel accepted, and know you don't have to figure everything out alone. With over 18 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I've had the privilege of helping people through anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, grief, and many of life's unexpected twists. Over the years, I've learned that no two people are alike, which is why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
Clients often tell me they appreciate that I am warm, easy to talk to, and genuinely invested in their growth. I won't just sit quietly and nod—I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, offer honest feedback when it's helpful, and work alongside you to help you better understand yourself and create meaningful change.
Congratulations on taking the first step in your journey of healing and self-discovery. I have experience working with adults from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds. I work collaboratively with clients to address problems such as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety/worry, struggles in interpersonal relationships, LGBTQ+ -related issues and challenges navigating life transitions. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, which allows me to draw on multiple theories and interventions such as process-oriented therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology to individualize treatment for the clients I serve.
I am an affirmative therapist and am LGBTQIA+ allied (I myself identify as gender queer and pansexual), BLM allied, Indigenous/native allied, API allied, Latinx allied, Disability allied, Deaf allied, Vegan allied (I myself am Vegan), and polyamory allied. I specialize in serving patients suffering suicide loss at any stage of the loss. I also specialize in attachment/family systems informed individual care and CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia). I also hold particular interest and experience in serving adults with ASD, ID or DD, adult children of narcissists, those who have suffered brainwashing and those who have suffered paranormal trauma.
I have years of experience in serving patients with a multitude of mental health and relational difficulties. I consider my orientation as a therapist to be first and foremost client-centered and strength-based. Although I utilize various therapeutic approaches, I chiefly consider myself to be a narrative/Rogerian therapist. This means that I work to help my patients take back the power and control over their own stories and assist them by co-authoring a narrative that truly witnesses and respects their traumas, tragedies, injustices, achievements, triumphs, milestones, strengths, and resiliency. I do this while holding empathy, congruency and unconditional positive regard as my three major tenants in the therapeutic alliance.
I specialize in therapy for: adult individuals suffering depression, anxiety, interpersonal/relational difficulties, traumatic grief, suicide loss, relational and attachment traumas, victims of psychological torture/emotional abuse/brainwashing, adult children of narcissists, sufferers of paranormal traumas, military and first-responder trauma, vegans, LGBTQIA+, adults with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Developmental disabilities (DD), people struggling with life stressors, and those struggling with identity.
I provide online individual therapy to adolescents and adults across California, offering services in both English and Spanish. I have experience assessing and treating a wide range of mental health symptoms and disorders, and I approach therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to identify goals and create meaningful change. I view you as the expert of your own life, and I’m here to offer support, guidance, and a fresh perspective when it’s helpful.
My hope is that our therapeutic relationship empowers you to navigate both present and future challenges with confidence. I’m passionate about helping clients build long‑lasting, positive change through Cognitive‑Behavioral interventions, mindfulness practices, and solution‑focused strategies designed to reduce symptoms, alleviate stress, and support you through life’s transitions.
I offer support to survivors of traumatic experiences, individuals who have experienced a loss or separation from a loved one, as well as those suffering from depression and anxiety. Emotional pain is as common as physical pain, and can be truly agonizing. I have years of experience in the areas of medical social work, grief and loss, trauma, depression and anxiety.
I am constantly amazed by the human spirit and believe firmly that everyone has an ability to heal. Allow me the privilege of being part of your journey.

Together, we collect the pieces of your life story you've taken from past relationships and experiences and examine them, looking for new ways to write your own story. I also welcome discussion of issues like racism, homophobia, sexism, and how they affect us. My clients are able to make sense of their patterns and discover their own solutions through a space we craft with humor, compassion, and the occasional meme. By the end of therapy, my clients share feeling more at peace with themselves and more confident in managing their relationships.

I began my career working with youth and families in residential settings, where I saw firsthand the impact our experiences can have on how we move through the world. My own life experiences also shaped my path to becoming a therapist and taught me the importance of feeling seen, understood, and supported. Over the years, this has shaped an approach that looks at the whole person—their story, strengths, relationships, and the experiences that have made them who they are.
I approach our first session with wanting to know what prompted you to book the session. This is because people usually book a therapy session with an issue in mind, or with a problem to solve. I assure you that if you are motivated to change your mindset and ready to work on yourself, that you will be able to feel more peaceful and calm with just one session, and you will leave knowing that you will be able to solve what is going on.
We tend to be harsh and critical of ourselves thinking that will promote change when that only causes us to procrastinate and feel depression and anxiety. To address this I offer you my book endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on self-forgiveness- find it on Amazon and in Barnes & Noble, "The Chiron Effect: Healing Our Core Wounds through Astrology, Empathy, and Self-Forgiveness."
I offer you my podcast- "All Things Therapy," which can be found on iTunes and Spotify. It is a mental health and wellness-focused podcast with over 425 episodes related to mental health, fitness, and personal transformation for you to dig into. I intend that the show augments therapy and gives you a resource to look for topics you are facing in the show titles and then listen and apply what is offered and see how that changes things for you.

Throughout my carrier, I have worked with clients with a variety of issues and from all socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds. My experience in College Hospital, a mental health facility, trained me to understand how different mental health issues can be compounded by trauma and substance abuse, as well as preparing me for dealing with clients with variety of mental health problems. I have extensive experience with children, adolescents and adults who had experienced different traumas. Among my areas of experience are anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, women's issues, adolescents' issues and family problems. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. Together, we can work towards reducing anxiety symptoms, improving relationship dynamics, and enhancing your overall well-being.
Therapy can be scary, but you are making the steps to start healing. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important piece in the therapy process. I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space with empathy and compassion. I will work to empower you to have the confidence to face the challenges life throws at you while building healthy coping skills and self-talk. Looking forward to working with you!
Are you struggling with something that happened? Maybe you’re having a hard time after a car accident, medical procedure, assault, natural disaster, or witnessing something shocking. Or maybe what happened doesn’t seem “big” enough to call trauma, but you know it changed something in you.
Some experiences are what we call “big T” traumas. But there are also “little t” traumas. Being neglected or made to feel invisible, being made fun of, getting yelled at, or losing a pet can leave a lasting mark too. An experience doesn’t have to seem “big” to everyone else. What matters is how it affected you.
I’m a trauma therapist who uses EMDR and other therapies to help people work through overwhelming experiences and feel more like themselves again.
I also work with healthcare workers who have experienced disturbing or traumatic situations in the course of their jobs. You may be carrying something you saw, heard, or had to do that is difficult to talk about with people who haven’t been there.
I have extensive experience working with adolescents and teenagers as well. This is a time of life when everything can feel big, and having a place where you don’t have to minimize what you’re feeling can make a real difference.
Therapy with me is active and collaborative. We’ll work together to understand what is keeping you stuck and find ways to help you. If you’re motivated and short on time, I can also give you practical tools and knowledge you can use between sessions to support yourself through a difficult space.
I’m probably a good fit if you’re ready to work on the impact of something overwhelming and want a therapist who will take your experience seriously, even if other people might not understand why it affected you so deeply.

Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and support you where you want to be. Whether that is: to gain confidence, communicate better, set boundaries, or start healing from your past traumas. I hope to be able to assist you in building a better version of yourself.
With more than 12 years of experience in the field, I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients in many different settings as they process challenges, explore new perspectives, and build meaningful tools for growth. My style blends evidence‑based methods with a grounded, human approach—and a sense of humor when it’s helpful. I meet clients where they are and work collaboratively toward their goals. I hold a master’s in Psychology from JFK University and a bachelor’s degree from Holy Names University. I have worked across diverse roles in the mental health field, helping clients unpack their experiences, process life’s challenges, and develop skills that support long‑term growth. I use a range of therapeutic methods, incorporate humor when appropriate, and tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs.
