Hello! My name is Mayela Razo-Vega, and I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), fluent in both English and Spanish. I strive to create a compassionate, supportive space where individuals can heal, grow, and deepen their understanding of themselves. I’m especially passionate about working with young adults navigating life transitions and cultural stressors. I also support individuals dealing with relationship and family challenges, trauma, depression, and anxiety. My clinical experience includes working with people across a wide range of ages, cultural backgrounds, and socioeconomic experiences. I approach therapy through a culturally sensitive and person-centered lens, always grounded in respect for each person’s unique path.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, our main goal will be to understand the symptoms and challenges you're currently facing. From there, we'll begin working together to create a plan that addresses these issues in a way that feels manageable and meaningful to you. I'll provide you with an overview of the treatment process, including the therapeutic approaches I use. Together, we'll identify your goals by exploring both your mental health and other areas of your life that you’d like to focus on. We’ll take a holistic look at your experiences to help broaden your perspective. Throughout our work, you can expect to build on your existing strengths and skills, learn effective coping strategies, and begin to challenge unhelpful thought patterns—all within a supportive and empowering environment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my core strengths as a therapist is my ability to foster a safe, nonjudgmental space that supports your healing and growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m best positioned to support individuals who are seeking a compassionate and culturally sensitive space to navigate life’s challenges. I work especially well with young adults facing life transitions, identity exploration, and the stress that can come from balancing personal goals with cultural or family expectations. I also help individuals manage relationship and family dynamics, as well as cope with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for greater clarity and self-understanding, my goal is to support you with empathy, insight, and practical tools to promote meaningful growth and healing.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I use an eclectic therapy approach, which means I draw from a variety of evidence-based methods to best fit your unique needs, goals, and preferences. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, I integrate tools and techniques from different therapeutic styles—such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches. This flexible style allows me to tailor our work together in a way that feels most helpful and relevant to you. Whether you're navigating life transitions, managing difficult emotions, or working through deeper patterns, I’ll collaborate with you to find strategies that align with your values and support your healing and growth.

I feel Maya guides me in my feelings and helps me get to where I need to go. She keeps me on track and helps me understand my feelings and emotions and helps me try to understand that we are making progress in my sessions. And nothing wrong with baby steps to get there. I am completely ok with that.
