Reyno Acoba
Hi, my name is Reyno Acoba, LMFT. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2008 in the state of California. I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. I work with a wide range of emotional & behavioral issues that span from therapy for depression, grief counseling, parenting support, and beyond. As a Multi-Cultural Counselor with 28 years of experience, I specialize in helping clients better manage their anxiety, depression, grief and loss issues, resolve conflicts with their significant other, improve parenting skills with their children, and develop a balance between life and work activities. I also provide counseling for college students who are not doing well academically and socially with their peers in school. My approach is to provide support and feedback to help clients address personal life challenges. With compassion and understanding, I work with individuals to build on their strengths and attain the growth they are committed to accomplishing.
First session
Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where they can feel comfortable sharing their concerns at their own pace. The first session is an opportunity to understand what brings them to therapy, explore their goals, and begin developing a collaborative treatment plan. My goal is for clients to leave feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the therapeutic process.
Strengths
I have been working in the mental health field since 1998, providing services across a variety of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals, substance use treatment facilities, community mental health settings, and private practice environments throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2002 with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. In 2005, I earned my master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University and subsequently obtained my Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being open and authentic. I believe effective therapy begins with listening without judgment, understanding each person's unique experiences, and building a genuine therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration. My professional experience includes providing therapy through Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), managed care referrals, and private practice. I currently serve as a clinical supervisor with the County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health, where I continue to support the professional development of mental health clinicians and contribute to the quality behavioral health services. I bring a combination of extensive clinical experience, empathy, patience, and practical insight to my sessions. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and make meaningful changes that support greater emotional well-being and a more fulfilling life.

Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and practice practical coping strategies that can be applied to everyday situations. I tailor CBT techniques to each client's individual needs and goals, with an emphasis on building self-awareness, improving emotional regulation, and creating meaningful, lasting positive change.
