In our first session together, we’ll take the time to get acquainted, establish a comfortable environment, and begin the essential work of setting the stage for your therapeutic journey. Building a Foundation of Trust and Understanding The first session is much more than an introduction—it’s the start of a partnership. I believe that therapy is most effective when there’s a strong connection between the therapist and client, so a significant part of this initial meeting will involve getting to know one another. You’ll have the opportunity to share what brought you to therapy and discuss your goals, concerns, and expectations. At the same time, I’ll share more about my approach, philosophy, and how I structure the therapeutic process. Originating from my experience in school and community partnerships with families, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a treatment approach that considers how an individual thinks as the reason for the way an individual behaves. Using this approach involves active listening on my part and honest talking on your part, as we examine how your environment and biology make up your thought processes, identify the healthy and unhealthy thought patterns, and select the most appropriate tools to mitigate the unhealthy processes for optimal wellbeing.
As a certified dialectical behavior therapist, I engage in this modality to treat anxiety, depression, trauma, and ADHD symptoms on an individual basis for a sustained period of educational and supportive partnership.
