I strive to help find relief and lasting change within even the first session or two. This begins with the retainable concept of 2 simultaneous paths for clients... 1- How can clients ADDRESS the sources of their struggles? 2- How COPE clients cope in effective healthy ways? Addressing and coping are central in my work. It's like having a hornet's nest outside the front door of your home. At times, it's needed to cope with it by using a different door, putting ice on your stings, or allowing yourself a pause from taking on this trouble and finding some respite. Otherwise, it is needed to address the hornet's nest and identify and take action on what is under your control to do about it.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I like to make sure the first session is about learning about each other. It's very important to understand a client's background, struggles, and goals. Also, it's certainly important for clients to know how I work therapeutically, know how I see their challenges and treatment plan, as well as know my expertise, tailored pace, and welcoming personability.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I used to be an educator and still have teacher-like approaches. I strive to make sure concepts of addressing and coping are understandable and retainable for the moment and for the future. This is so effective at enabling people to learn and grow. I'm also skilled in making sure clients know that they are understood, that there is a clear therapeutic process, that we will work for continuity from session to session, and that we clearly gauge progress along the way.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a best-practice highly effective contemporary “talk therapy” where there is an effort to find beneficial ways of thinking (cognition) and taking action (behavior) to contend with mental health distress. CBT greatly helps to get more effective at addressing sources of distress as well as amassing and using healthy coping strategies.

Trauma Informed Care

Being trauma informed is to understand how various levels of adversity in one's life has been detrimental and contributes to poor mental health . This approach serves to improve insight and approaches to counter and contend with the harms of all sorts of trauma in life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

It is very important in therapeutic work to access and retain understanding of our mentality, needs, and effective healthy approaches. Mindfulness practices are integral to being able to better understand ourselves and steer ourselves toward an improved and uplifted direction in our lives.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology works to assist individuals in thriving and not merely getting out of distress. These approaches can primarily be in efforts for healthy effective coping measures such as via gratitude, savoring, generative interactions toward others, and rejuvenating experiences in nature.

Attachment-based

Much of our mentality, disposition, and abilities to meet our own needs can be traced back to how well we psychologically attached to caregivers from our youth. Understanding our attachment styles can be vital to correcting attachment ruptures from the past and improve our ability to manage emotions, get our needs met, and soothe our distress.
