Hi! I am Kim Allen. I am excited to meet with you! I have been working with individuals of all ages for over 15 years. I have always been passionate about helping others and would love to support you whether you are simply going through some tough times, needs some motivation in making a change in your life or are struggling with some more difficult challenges. I have worked with a variety of populations including victims of trauma; parents, adolescents and children struggling with mental health or other neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, autism, etc). and individuals working to make lifestyle changes such as diet and nutritional changes. I have also worked with couples on improving their communication and relationship skills. I am particularly passionate about helping others find ways to make changes using natural means including things such as meditation, dietary changes, nutritional supplementation and behavior modification. Whether you are new to therapy or just seeking someone new to work with, I understand that taking the step to meet with someone new can be overwhelming. You have taken the first step toward making change. I hope you will let me help you take the next step!
Meeting someone new can be overwhelming, especially when you will be sharing private and at times intimate details about yourself. I take this very seriously and feel that it is important for a trusting relationship be built between us. You can expect the first session to be about building a relationship of trust and developing an understanding of the goals you have for therapy. As we move through sessions we will develop a plan together on how to best address the concerns you are bringing to therapy. Sessions will then proceed with reaching your goals in mind.
I consider myself to be eclectic in my treatment methods. One size does not fit all people and as such believe in using the correct tool for each person. I often utilize skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Choice Therapy, and Behavioral Therapy.
While I have experience working with a variety of individuals and continue to enjoy supporting all populations, I particularly thrive in working with individuals that are open to trying less conventional methods. While I feel that medications can be helpful, I find that there are a number of other types of intervention that can help people long term including making dietary change, learning stress management, utilizing talk therapy, exercise, etc.
