Hi, I'm Lauren Sileski, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and life stressors. I have a lot of experience working with students and parents and view clients through a holistic lens. I value health and wellness and having worked as a personal trainer, I see how our daily habits and mindset influence our mental health. My goal as a therapist is for you to recognize your strengths and find the confidence to move towards your goals with an improved mindset.
In our first session together, we spend time talking about you and what you want to get out of counseling. You are encouraged to ask questions about the counseling process. Our goal is to build rapport and I want you to feel comfortable. We will discuss what brings you to counseling and we will collaborate from there on your goals.
Having worked for over 10 years with students and parents in educational settings, I am very good at finding people's strengths even if you can't see it yet. Identifying your strengths can help you find the confidence and acceptance to move forward with your goals. I see potential in everyone and am adept in creating a space where client's feel comfortable to explore their emotions and feelings.
My clients are typically high achievers that put a lot of pressure on themselves to succeed. They are people pleasers that often don't put themselves first. I enjoy working with teens, adults and parents that have goals but may feel stuck and frustrated. Clients often have maladaptive coping mechanisms and have awareness, but maybe don't know how to go about behavior change. Being a mom myself, I enjoy working with other moms and also women dealing with infertility struggles or health goals.
CBT is an evidenced based form of therapy that works on identifying your thoughts, beliefs and behaviors. Recognizing unhelpful thought patterns is useful in improving how we feel and act. This is a collaborative process and is goal oriented.
ACT is also an evidenced based modality of therapy. Finding acceptance for your self, thoughts, feelings and experiences helps you ease that internal fight and helps you find peace. ACT incorporates mindfulness techniques and also helps you identify your values in order to take steps forward that are in alignment with you.
