I am passionate about helping individuals navigate the different challenges they face and build coping skills to create more fulfilling and holistic life experiences. From my journey, I can personally attest to the power of support, in its many forms. This support goes beyond clients I service but also to their families and communities. I believe that mental wellness isn’t just individualistic; but includes the ecosystem surrounding the person. My praxis acknowledges and aims to support the village needed by all.
I’m also passionate about the transformative impact of safe and brave spaces for those who often experience exclusion. My career has afforded me opportunities to build trust with LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and Refugee communities across the nation. It is a personal privilege to center wellness and holistic care for all as ‘self-care is a radical form of resistance.’

**Let's be real, life can get messy.**
Especially when you've been carrying things for so long that you barely notice the weight anymore.
Maybe it's complicated family dynamics, childhood wounds, or the exhaustion of always being the strong one. Or maybe you're starting over, navigating loneliness, or trying to figure out who you are outside of everyone else's expectations. Whatever it is, you don't have to keep carrying it alone. We can unpack it, sort it out, and leave what no longer serves you right at the curb.
I'm Kalena, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with 7+ years of experience helping people stop pretending they're fine and start doing the deeper healing work. I specialize in dysfunctional family dynamics, emotional neglect, trauma, relationship patterns, and life transitions.
And here's the thing: **You don't need your entire family in therapy to work through family issues.** Sometimes healing begins with one person deciding to break the cycle.
My approach combines clinical expertise, lived experience, empathy, honesty, and zero judgment. I understand that breaking cycles, setting boundaries, and choosing yourself can be uncomfortable, especially when you've spent years putting everyone else's needs before your own.
Working with me means no fluff. Just honest, empowering conversations that help you understand yourself, process difficult experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, and make meaningful changes.
I believe healing isn't about fixing yourself. It's about returning to who you were before life convinced you that you weren't enough.
**Ready to start doing things differently? Let's do the work together.**

Hello, I'm Mario, and I'm here to help you navigate the challenges you're facing, whether it's anxiety, grief, depression, or any other mental health concern. I believe that everyone has the strength within them to overcome their struggles, and my role is to support you in discovering and harnessing that strength. As Lao Tzu wisely said, “He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is mighty!” This philosophy is at the heart of my counseling approach.
Nobody comes to therapy because they need someone to tell them to “think positive.” They come because they’re tired. Tired of anxiety calling the shots. Tired of repeating the same relationship patterns. Tired of carrying things they were never meant to carry alone.
Life is complicated enough. Understanding yourself shouldn’t be. My job is to help you make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface and give you practical tools you can actually use long after our sessions end.
No two people are the same, so no two sessions are either. We focus on what you need most that day while never losing sight of where you’re trying to go. Some days we’ll process. Some days I’ll challenge you. Some days we’ll laugh because life has a weird sense of humor. Every session has one goal: helping you move forward.
If you’re looking for a therapist who’s engaged, honest, down-to-earth, and willing to have real conversations, I think you’ll feel right at home here.

Life can change in an instant. One moment everything feels familiar, and the next, you're facing challenges you never expected. I understand that reality personally. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem, or feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, you don't have to navigate it alone. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can process challenges, build healthy coping skills, and move toward meaningful growth.
If you're ready to begin your healing journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Together, we can work toward healing, growth, and thriving.
My passion for counseling comes from both my professional experience and my own life journey. Like many people, I have experienced seasons of loss, hardship, and uncertainty. Growing up in a home affected by abuse, alcoholism, and substance use taught me firsthand how deeply family dynamics can impact our emotional well-being. I have also experienced profound grief through the loss of my brother at a young age and, more recently, the loss of my father. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of having someone who truly listens and supports you through life's most difficult moments.

First Session
In our first session, my focus is on getting to knowing you- what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping to gain from our work together, and what may have felt difficult or painful lately. I’ll ask gentle questions to better understand your experiences, your history, your strengths and the goal you have for therapy- where you want your life to be, a month, six months, a year from now. Then we’ll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You will leave the session with a better understanding of what you are facing and I can help you begin making sense of your experiences, recognizing your strengths, and identifying the next steps toward healing. There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss. We will begin building a foundation of trust and understanding and develop a collaborative plan for our work together. Most importantly we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
