struggles and efforts it takes to achieve this transformation. I want to reassure you that people do heal, and I am deeply committed to helping you create your unique story of growth and healing. Your journey is unique, and I am here to support you every step of the
way.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) originally from Louisiana, now based in Tennessee. My career has primarily revolved around nurturing the social, emotional, and behavioral growth of children aged from birth to six years old. This involves collaborating with caregivers such as parents, grandparents, and teachers to address both the individual needs of the children and the emotional support required by the caregivers themselves.
Parent counseling, behavioral coaching and educational consultation services for parents of children ages birth to six are also available to private pay clients. Understanding your family's goals and challenges, I can use my expertise as an educator and mental health consultant to assist in paving the way for your child's future success.
Alongside my passion for early childhood development, I'm deeply invested in advocacy work, particularly for individuals with other or more diverse mental illness, including those who have been incarcerated or hospitalized. Working with such a diverse clientele has afforded me extensive experience with populations that are often misunderstood.
Does this sound familiar: · Feeling stuck? · Trapped? · Struggling to cope with all the demands placed on you? · Feel like you have no control over things in your life? · Struggling to remain organized? · Struggling with life's transitions? · Difficulty managing daily stresses? · Struggling to regulate your emotions?
If you answered 'yes' to any of those and are ready to make a change and take control of your life, allow me to help you. Change is not easy, and it can be scary, but it is necessary in order to move forward. Together we can work to identify and overcome the obstacles in your life that are preventing you from reaching your potential and realizing your goals. I can help you gain insight and develop healthy coping skills so that you may experience personal growth.
Contact me today for a free 20 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit to work together. If not, I would be happy to help you find someone who is! If you do not see a day/time that works for you, let me know. I am happy to be flexible if my schedule allows for it. My schedule may not always be up to date during busy times as it changes every week. While I only conduct sessions from Monday to Thursday, I am happy to have a consultation call on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Hi, I'm Julie Este-McDonald — a Licensed Professional Counselor, Executive Coach, and doctoral candidate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology who researches burnout. I'm passionate about helping people heal, grow, and reconnect with who they are beneath the weight of everything they've been carrying.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, PTSD, life transitions, and the quiet exhaustion that comes from constantly holding it all together. I have a particular heart for women — and especially Black women — who are managing the layered demands of high achievement, caregiving, leadership, and everything in between.
My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-aware, meaning I pay close attention not just to what you're experiencing, but to how your history has shaped the way you move through the world. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you examine the thought patterns influencing how you see yourself and others, and I bring warmth, honesty, and practical tools to every session.
For clients who want faith to be part of the conversation, I'm also equipped to hold that space. With a post-graduate certificate in Pastoral Counseling, I support clients integrating spirituality into their healing — as well as those deconstructing or reimagining their relationship with faith altogether, including those navigating religious trauma.
Whether you're brand new to therapy or returning to go deeper, my goal is simple: to create a space where you feel safe, genuinely seen, and supported in building a life that feels as good on the inside as it may already look on the outside.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in healthcare settings, supporting adults facing stress, anxiety, depression, and life changes. I understand how overwhelming it can feel to manage emotional challenges while also handling the demands of daily life.
I provide a practical, supportive approach to help you better understand what you’re going through and build realistic strategies to feel more in control, confident, and able to move forward. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest, while also helping you make meaningful progress at a pace that feels manageable.
With more than 25 years of experience, I specialize in supporting children, and adults who face ADHD, anxiety, substance abuse, depression, developmental delays, trauma, learning disabilities, and difficulties with emotional regulation. I understand that every person is unique. I take a personalized, compassionate approach to create a safe and supportive environment where healing and growth can flourish. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience supporting individuals, families, and communities through a wide range of life challenges. I earned my PhD in Clinical Social Work and Supervision from Walden University in 2026. I earned my Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2008, after completing my Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology in 2004. My academic journey also includes two years at Florida State University and an Addictions Certificate from the University of Michigan, which I received in 2015.
After graduating, I returned to my hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where I became licensed and began practicing as a social worker. Throughout my career, I have worked as a therapist, crisis manager, and adjunct professor; roles that have allowed me to develop a well-rounded, real-world understanding of the issues people face in everyday life.
My work has been guided by a strong commitment to strengthening both interpersonal and intrapersonal awareness as a pathway to meaningful change. I believe that growth happens when individuals feel understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools to navigate life’s complexities. Through my work with individuals and families across the lifespan, I strive to approach each person with compassion, curiosity, and respect, supporting emotional, mental, and physical well-being at every stage of human development.
I understand that life can be overwhelming and we all need someone to listen at times. It can be helpful to evaluate our lives, problems or certain situations in a safe and confidential setting. Current stressors, such as problems with work, family, romantic relationships or finances can make it difficult to function adequately. I have been working as a counseling psychologist for over 10 years with most of my experience with adult individuals. I enjoy conducting therapy with people from different backgrounds and have worked successfully with individuals who have experienced various types of trauma, such as childhood abuse, sexual or physical assaults, combat or domestic violence. I am also experienced in treating anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, anger management problems, or problem solving deficits. Making health behavior changes, such as behavior activation or weight management, can be achieved via therapy and I have successfully worked with individuals who wanted to improve their health.
I am originally from Germany and I speak English and German. I also lived in Switzerland and England for a while. I studied Psychology in the United States and graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.
