I tell everyone that I am not your average therapist, meaning I have a different outlook and approach than many therapists/counselors. I have extensive experience working with complex populations and mental health conditions, including but not limited to complex trauma, psychosis, personality disorders, and substance use. I am typically direct because I believe time is our most valuable resource, and I want to respect your time. I use humor when appropriate to help therapy feel more comfortable and approachable. Asking for help is typically the hardest and most important thing we must do. I try to make that process as easy as possible. Life can be hard sometimes, and it has so many beautiful things. I am here to help figure that out.

Hello there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Chicago, IL. I received my Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and have been practicing for 6 years now. I got into this field because I wanted to change the world. While I may not be able to do this alone, I will do all that I can to support my clients and help them to change theirs. Life is tough but we are resilient; sometimes, we just need the opportunity to feel seen and heard in a warm, safe, nonjudgmental space to remind ourselves of that - that is exactly what I strive to give to each of my clients. I absolutely love working with adults ready to take that next step into change. Maybe you've spent months or even years feeling like you were stuck. It can be very difficult to know where to start or how to sort things out on your own. Despite these feelings, maybe you feel like there's a possibility that things could be different. I'm here to tell you that it is and reconnecting to a meaningful life is not as far away as it may seem. If you're ready to get back to yourself and work towards your goals, I am here, ready to partner with you and help guide you there.

Biography: I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I facilitate the spiritual, mental and emotional healing process through talk therapy. The focus of most of my adult life has been to be a skilled helper to people in need. As I moved through my theological training, I realized that, often, others needed deeper support than "church" alone could give. I pursued further education to become a clinical counselor to meet those needs. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including, outpatient community mental health, inpatient/outpatient substance abuse/addiction, sex offender therapy in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, mental health professional in the Florida Department of Corrections, inpatient and day treatment of chronically mentally ill, and private practice. I believe my gift, in the counseling relationship, is that I help others see things for themselves. I also have a Christian world view which informs my interaction with others. I am a compassionate, non judgmental, "Wounded healer". Yes, I have had to negotiate life's struggles like anyone else. So, it is not just an academic exercise with me. I offer compassionate support while we work through your mental health issues including, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, fear, grief, loss, codependency, and self esteem issues.

Do you feel stuck in a pattern that is negatively impacting your overall wellness? Just as important as the "why" is the "what" aspect of the mind. What we think, what we feel and what we believe are all intertwined with our behavior. Exploring the thoughts and beliefs that underpin certain actions can lead to profound self-awareness and personal growth. In my interactions with clients, I have witnessed the transformative power of uncovering and challenging deep-seated beliefs that no longer serve them. While patterns and commonalities may emerge among individuals, it is crucial to remember that each person's mind is a unique landscape. What works for one may not work for another, and it is my duty as a clinician to adapt the plan of care accordingly. As a therapist and health coach, I incorporate a holistic (mind/body) approach.

I work with high-performing professionals who are exhausted from carrying too much responsibility for too long. Many of my clients are leaders, healthcare providers, executives, and driven individuals who appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed, burned out, or emotionally depleted behind the scenes. Before becoming a full-time therapist, I served in senior healthcare leadership roles, including Regional Vice President. I understand the pressure of performance plans, regulatory scrutiny, organizational instability, and the silent weight of being the person everyone else depends on. In therapy, we focus on restoring clarity, rebuilding emotional resilience, and addressing the root causes of anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress. My approach integrates evidence-based cognitive and trauma-informed interventions with practical, real-world strategies that support both professional and personal stability. If you are a high-achieving individual who feels stuck, overextended, or quietly unraveling under pressure, you are not weak. You are overloaded. Together, we will recalibrate your nervous system, strengthen your internal narrative, and restore sustainable performance without sacrificing your well-being.

Welcome, I am glad you're here. Reaching out for help can be scary and I applaud you taking this first step. My approach with therapy is to provide a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, where you can talk openly, feel heard and begin to work through what has been weighing on you. I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through a wide range of challenges. My professional background includes work in hospitals, nursing facilities, home health and hospice care, where I provided compassionate support to individuals coping with aging, illness, grief and major life transitions. I smile when I think about it, but there was a time I thought a career in medicine was what I wanted but I am so bad at math that didn't work out very well. There was a time I thought I was being called into ministry as a pastor, and I wanted to be a pastor that could counsel, but circumstances didn't allow that to happen either. Maybe it's ironic and maybe it's not but I'm not really that much of a talker so I never dreamed that becoming a therapist would be my thing. But then again, therapy is a lot about listening and I do that really well. I enjoy helping others move from places of frustration, and sometimes despair to places of hope and healing. I have always been taught that people deserve respect and to be treated with dignity regardless of what their issue is or where they come from and that is a value I continue to hold. I also find it interesting that the three careers I pursued had their focus in the three things I still believe are important for a life of fulfillment, purpose, and contentment and those are physical health, spiritual health and mental health. I received a Masters of Divinity degree in 1991, a Masters in Social Work degree in 1996 and my License as a Clinical Social Worker in 1997. I went back to school in 2016 and obtained a MBA in Healthcare Management in 2017. My 30 year career in mental health has been split between providing clinical services, supervising others in their provision of clinical services and administration in the area of Healthcare Quality and Compliance.

Stay focused, know your "Why?" And fulfill your purpose. Anxiety, PTSD, and depression are some of the leading reasons people seek therapy. Anxiety, PTSD, and depression can keep people from being able to reach their best potential because they focus on what could go wrong instead of what could go right. Life experiences and circumstances inform anxiety experiences. It is so important to have healthy coping skills to deal with anxiety, PTSD, and depression, so you are not overwhelmed. I would love to help you learn healthy coping skills to effectively get through struggles you may be going through. Your "someday I will work on reducing my anxiety" can start today by booking your first therapy appointment to gain healthy coping skills. I work with adults through individual therapy seeking support for everyday challenges such as stress, work-life balance, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, ADHD, emotional regulation. depression, anxiety, PTSD, career goal setting, communication skills, or life transitions to name a few. My approach is solution-focused and action oriented, to help you gain strategies you can begin using right away. I also accept Amazon EAP clients. For clients who value Christian faith as part of their journey, I also offer the option to incorporate prayer and biblical wisdom into our work together. Sessions will take place ONLY on the Grow Therapy portal. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency call 911 or go to your nearest ER. Severe and/or frequently severe mental health needs are best served in an in person mental health therapeutic setting. Are you feeling stuck and unsure of how to get past symptoms of anxiety, depression or past trauma? It's common to experience mental health-related challenges in life and to get stuck at times. We're not born with a built-in understanding of how to be psychologically healthy, so sometimes it's a good idea to get a little guidance from an unbiased professional. My ideal client is motivated to understand themselves better and to make the necessary adjustments to improve their quality of life.
