LCSW, 9 years of experience
Hi! I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Northwest Indiana. I have 9 years of experience helping clients recover from grief and loss, loneliness, guilt, anxiety depression, unhealthy relationships or substance use. I believe with guidance, support and proper resources, clients can overcome their struggles, recover and get their life back. I enjoy watching my clients succeed and overcome challenges.
Our first session is a get to know you session, my new client can expect introductions and questions about what the client wants from therapy and what their goals are for treatment, what do they hope to accomplish? What can I assist them with? Then we can build a plan together to help them move forward.
I feel my strengths are that clients can tell I really care, I am a good listener. I am honest and up front with my clients when they need to hear the truth, but in a kind, gentle manner. As a social worker, I am very resourceful and look for ways to help clients find additional help.
I love working with adults of any age. Widows who are lonely and depressed and need the confidence to socialize and enjoy life again. Anxious Perfectionists who want to learn to slow down and appreciate the little things Those who are ready to rebuild their life after struggling with active addiction Those who struggle with or are stuck in unhealthy relationships and have developed low self esteem

Lora is very kind and compassionate in her approach. I was so relieved to finally found someone who I clicked with. Lora is very good at helping to explore feelings and helping in considering different solutions to issues. I feel like I am talking with a really empathetic friend who gives really great suggestions to think about as well as things I can work on or read between sessions. I would highly recommend.

When clients struggle with depression, guilt, anxiety or self esteem, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify and address negative thinking patterns. Learning how to combat negative thoughts can help clients improve their self esteem, discover who they are and become their best self.
As humans, we grieve many different life events in addition to the death of a loved one. I have helped clients process the emotions of many different types of grief including: losing a loved one, divorce, loss of a career, lifestyle or long term relationship. I have supported many clients by walking beside them through the stages of grief and loss.
I find strength-based therapy useful in supporting all of my clients. I believe everyone can benefit from not only learning their strengths, but also how to use them when life gets hard. Clients who struggle with unhealthy relationships, depression, anxiety or substance use often lose sight of who they are and the natural talents or gifts they have been given. I guide my clients in discovering their own worth and life purpose.
