The great poet Rumi wrote "out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." That field is a space where calm, love and forgiveness exist. There is no judgement, only acceptance here. And in that soul space you are free to find those fragments of you that are lost, and begin to piece them back together. I'm licensed in both Florida and Michigan. As a licensed clinical therapist and licensed substance abuse counselor, I have experience running very powerful substance abuse and co-occurring groups. Prior to that, I worked as a social worker in Flint, Michigan for many years as a therapist, caseworker and in crisis intervention. My experiences have given me such a rich experience and exposure to the many factors that contribute to our personal mental health and well-being. I've been fortunate to work with people in their homes, in the community, with their families as well as the private practice setting which have given me a much richer experience than just an of an office setting alone.

Hi! I am a married cisgender woman, and my husband and I have a 15 year old son. I'm originally from St. Louis, Missouri but I have lived in Florida for 34 years and it's my home. I think of myself as a girl-next-door therapist. New clients often tell me I'm easy to talk to. I like to use humor whenever possible. My approach is gentle and humble. I'll never go beyond your comfort level of discussion. My office is where you can spew your thoughts, cry and talk about yourself. I have had clients say things about their life that would not be acceptable in most settings, and being able to talk about it is often very freeing. I became a master's level social worker at 32, and my life experience prior to that enabled my ability to understand different types of people and what motivates them. I've been in this field for 15 years and I have worked in foster care, hospice and other medical settings and outpatient mental health settings.

Since 2005 I’ve had the privilege of working as a therapist and clinical social worker. I’ve had the honor of walking alongside my clients and bearing witness to some of their most stressful and difficult experiences, including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, self-injury, psychosis, stigma and self-stigma, family and relationship stressors, and adjustment to life changes. These experiences are often accompanied by changes in sense of self, relationships, and quality of life that can be equally difficult to navigate. As a therapist, my task begins with creating a safe space for expression, processing and problem-solving, and growth. Therapy builds on client strengths and is tailored to the client’s voice, experience, and goals. I frequently use psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), mindfulness-based, solution focused, and narrative therapies. Each client has the strength and abilities to work through the challenges they face. My role is to promote empowerment and provide clarity, insight, and support as clients master these challenges. I am a steadfast advocate for LGBTQ+ clients and families, racial and social justice, neurodivergence and mental health. Specialties: • Bipolar Disorder • Depression • Anxiety • Obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders • Personality disorders • Stress management • Stigma and self-stigma • Self-Injury and self-defeating behaviors • Relationship and family stressors • Adjustment to life changes and transitions • Self esteem Please note: I do not specialize in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or complex trauma (C-PTSD). In life, each of us experiences adverse circumstances that can be difficult and life-changing; however, the traumatic responses caused by traumatic, life-threatening events necessitate specialist treatment. I am happy to discuss and provide referrals for the treatment needed; however, for full transparency I do not provide services for intimate partner violence, domestic or emotional abuse, physical abuse, or sexual abuse or assault. If a traumatic event (past or recent) is the primary reason for seeking treatment, an expert/specialist is needed to provide appropriate, trauma-informed care.

To others it may seem like you've got it all together, but on the inside you're spinning out of control. Panic randomly punches you in the chest, taking your breath away, and you can't focus on anything else other than how to make it stop. You are consumed by trying to keep up with everyone else since they seem to have it all together, but you can barely function through the day. You feel like an awful mom because you are lashing out on your kids and hating the daily monotony instead of "embracing the joy of motherhood." You feel like you are failing your partner because somewhere along this journey you just lost yourself. You want to be a better mom to your kids. And remember why you fell in love with your partner. And stop the tornado of anxiety that knocks you out on the regular. You want to stop living by the expectations of others and rediscover who you truly are. It's time to win back some peace of mind and self-worth and attract the life you want. I have the DBT and mindfulness skills, which uses both mind and body exercises that will help you manage the crippling anxiety, love yourself better, be a more present and joyful mom, improve your relationships, and attract the life you want.

My business, North Star Behavioral Health, LLC, is the culmination of a long, diverse career in behavioral health. Briefly, I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1999. Although my social work clinical background was sound I realized, after having worked in many medical settings, I needed a more complete understanding of how a person's medical condition affects their mood and behavior. As a life-long learner, I went to nursing school and have been a Registered Nurse since 2008. Once licensed as a RN, I had a 10 year practice focused on the psychiatric care of seniors. The combination of my clinical experience as a LCSW combined with the medical and psychiatric care of seniors as a RN has been invaluable in helping me deliver quality care to seniors as they age.

With a direct yet compassionate approach to therapy, I help clients identify issues that are causing distress in their lives. I have 36 years of experience and have written two books: "Bipolarized" and "Borderline" -- one on bipolar disorder and the other on borderline personality disorder. Many clients gain insight into their disorders through reading my books and identifying a list of issues to work on in therapy. Hypnotherapy is extremely valuable and I ask clients to record the sessions to listen to the recording every day. This reinforces positive messages to improve self-esteem, reduce anxiety, stress and depression and identify relevant issues on a subconscious level.

Sonya’s theoretical framework values the following core principles: communication, and relationships; supporting tension release and vitality; and the importance of meeting clients where they are physically, emotionally, and developmentally within a trusting environment. Sonya focuses on solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral therapy approaches, but employs additional options as needed, depending on each client's personal journey towards healing.

Empowering Others to Live Happier Lives. I am Jennifer Evans, LPC, LMHC. I am a board-certified therapist in multiple states and over 20 years of counseling experience, with a proven success of reaching remission in Depression with my clients in one session; this is within the 95th percentile of clinicians measured. I am passionate about effecting change and helping work with people to achieve insight in order to gain maximum potential and reach their most desired visions and goals. I know personally and professionally, how difficult it is to get here and I am proud of your first step and commitment to change. I know I can be of valued support as we work together to reach success, insight, and overcome emotional and psychosocial stressors. A little more about me; I was born and raised in Florida. I did my undergraduate at Florida State University, and moved to Virginia to attend Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I studied clinical counseling and received my Master’s in Art Therapy. As a military spouse, we relocated many times, having to redevelop my career each duty station, which gave me a myriad of experiences with various populations. This has lead me to focus on occupational counseling and the effects of stress on our mental health. My passion for treatment is trauma and life experiences that lead us to feel fearful, unsafe, and saddened; sometimes with no explanation as to why we feel the way we do. I work with my client’s in a person-centered format with cognitive-behavioral underpinnings and psychoeducation to not only work through and build a better understanding of ourselves but the experiences and beliefs that built us and ways to endure and build resiliency to better manager those feelings so they are not as overwhelming in the future.

A little bit about me, my name is Amanda Chilleme, I am a Florida and North Carolina Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Master’s Certified Addiction professional. For the last 11 years I have been helping my clients identify intrinsically important goals, overcoming obstacles, and build the foundation for a better future. My specialty has been working with men and women struggling with both substance abuse and process or behavioral addictions; helping them to find the pathway to a life unencumbered. I also have years of experience treating clients with anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, bereavement, trauma, attachment, and personality disorders. As a clinician, I utilize a human focused approach. I am not here to tell you what you need to work on; you already know the “what”. As a clinician, it is my job to help you understand the “why”, and eventually, the “how” (to fix it, overcome it, or just plain throw it away). Your first session, is essentially a two-way interview; as I listen to your story/narrative, and the “rough draft” begins to unfold, WE as a team determine if, 1) I am the right therapist for you, and 2) If you are the right client for me. If we both agree to move forward from the first session, identifying your goals will be your first assignment; giving you the opportunity to do this, helps me to better see how you think and interpret your barriers (i.e. stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, etc.). I am your coach, teammate, and cheer leader! We will focus on one goal at a time. Whether you are just starting this process, or you have been in it for a while, I encourage you to plant that mustard seed, and watch just how beautifully you can grow.

Living with Anxiety, Depression, Panic or OCD can feel overwhelming. It can make tasks at work feel like it’s all too much to handle. In our personal lives, it can make us feel disconnected from the people we love as well as the activities we used to derive happiness from. Even though we develop ways to cope and talking with friends and family can help, these feelings never really fully go away. Thankfully, a structured approach to therapy can help. It is possible to feel comfortable or even excited to interact with people, enjoy your work each day and find meaning! As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 15 years of counseling experience, I place an emphasis on establishing therapeutic goals, developing a plan and highlighting the progress clients make towards personal change. I also understand the importance of establishing a genuine therapeutic connection based on compassion and empathy with each person I work with. In my experience, this serves as the foundation for meaningful progress in therapy. My primary approaches to counseling include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered and Solution Focused Therapy.

Hi, I’m Shawn Pedani, a licensed therapist with nearly 20 years of experience helping teens and adults work through anxiety, ADHD, and mood struggles like depression. Many of my clients feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, perfectionism, or worst-case-scenario thinking. Others feel overwhelmed by their emotions—either avoiding them, pushing them down, or feeling completely hijacked by them. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and things can get better. In addition to anxiety and ADHD, I work with people struggling with low self-confidence, people-pleasing, grief, and depression. If you feel trapped by self-doubt, constantly trying to meet impossible expectations, or struggling to move forward after a loss, I can help. Together, we’ll get to the root of these patterns and build real, practical strategies to set boundaries, grow your confidence, and live in alignment with what matters to you. Whether it’s school, work, or relationships, these struggles don’t have to run your life. Learning how to navigate emotions—rather than avoiding or battling them—can make a real difference. With the right tools, it’s possible to break out of old patterns, build confidence, and handle stress in a way that feels more manageable. Therapy isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about helping you show up in your life in a way that feels right for you.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Florida rather than a city like Tampa?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
