As a Therapist with over 25 years' experience, I work with children, adolescents, families, and individuals to strengthen relationships and overall functioning. My approach to counseling is the fundamental importance of emotional connections. We need to create and sustain healthy relationships with others that involved healthy boundaries and communication. Many things can disrupt our emotional connections with others and our goal together, is to repair and strengthen connections to promote healthy relationships. My therapeutic modalities are eclectic given the particular situation. I am trained in Cognitive Behavior and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family Systems Therapy with a strength based, client centered approach. The warmth, attunement and understanding I have for my clients, helps me to create a connection of trust and respect within the therapeutic environment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will discuss the reasons for seeking counseling at this time, past history, my theories of counseling and modalities used to determine appropriate fit for the client. It is important to explore any past counseling to determine what has worked well in the past so we continue to build upon that. I am able to create an environment of trust, safety and warmth to help you feel heard and understood through the counseling process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Given my extensive experience, I am able to quickly identify family dynamics, strengths and challenging areas for clients. I am a warm, inviting and compassionate therapist with a non judgmental demeanor and allow clients to be where they are today and together create a plan about how to move forward in the most respectful way.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

How we were raised creates a blueprint of how we show up in relationships with others and the goal is to learn emotional regulation strategies to manage stress and anxiety and to improve the relationships we have with ourselves and others. Unknowingly, we can create emotional stories that are harmful for us. Together we will explore old belief systems that may have had a purpose in the past that no longer work today.
