I'm a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy clinician who has been practicing for over 20 years. SFBT focuses on identifying and building your existing strengths rather than exploring the origins of your problem. In other words, we focus on solutions versus dwelling on problems. My specialties include helping people navigate toxic relationships, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, life transitions, career confusion and grief. I also understand the unique emotional challenges that can come with caring for chronically ill or aging pets. Making medical decisions, coping with the compassion fatigue that comes with caregiver stress, balancing caregiving responsibilities, anticipatory grief, eventually facing loss, can be overwhelming. You don't have to navigate those experiences alone. *PLEASE NOTE: All NEW client intake paperwork is required to be completed AND submitted no later than 24 hours prior to our appointment or we will need to reschedule. Thank You.
We will determine what is on your mind and then identify the coping skills that best fit your unique situation—tools you can begin using immediately to regain a sense of emotional peace. Visit my website at www.marcielliott.com to learn more. If you think we might be a good fit, I invite you to schedule an appointment so you can begin feeling better as soon as possible. Please keep in mind, that successful therapy requires a willingness to make changes. Most importantly, you should be seeking therapy because you want it—not simply to satisfy someone else's expectations.
My goal is to help you make meaningful progress as efficiently as possible. Therapy should equip you with practical tools that empower you to move forward with confidence. My philosophy is simple: Helping people heal—because when people are healthier, relationships are healthier...including the ones we share with the animals who depend on us.
I prefer to work with clients ages 18 and up. I also enjoy working with the elderly. My clients need to understand that therapy involves change and to remember that it is never too late to learn new coping skills. Also, you must be coming to therapy because YOU want it. Don't do it to make someone else happy.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I 've been providing counseling services since 2005 and utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which has been described as "a mental health sprint rather than a marathon." SFBT focuses more on solutions than problems and can be just as effective as longer term therapies for many issues.

Marci met me emotionally and intellectually where I needed her. She has helped me become solution-oriented in my thinking, she has seen opportunities and strengths in me that I’d totally forgotten about and/or pushed to the back burner. She is quick on her feet and offers other ways to view issues that are very helpful.

I was very pleased how the conversation just flowed. I was apprehensive about starting over with a new therapist (mine had to go on leave and I loved her), it was clear that she cared, paid attention to details and tailored a customized approach for my treatment. She even left me with some homework!
